Bob Marley and his band followed a religion called Rastafari. Their colours are green, red, gold and sometimes black. These are the colours of the flag of Ethiopia. The Rastafari followers believe that the former king of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie 1, is God, and that black people are God’s chosen people. It’s not just the colours that make reggae artists stand out. They often have striking hairstyles. Dreadlocks are entangled locks of hair that are twisted into long braids. It may look like you haven’t washed or combed your hair for months, but dreadlocks do in fact demand a lot of care, and it takes years to grow them long. 10 songs by Bob Marley
