Christmas in the Sun

Before reading

Seasons in Australia are the opposite of ours. Which season do you think it is in this photograph?

Singing carols by the sea Eating turkey on the sands Paper hats, mince pies, and crackers This is Christmas in hot lands.

Candlelight in cooler evenings Christmas dinner out of doors Summer flowers as decorations Carnivals for Santa Claus.

Santa Claus may have his reindeer And he still might come by sleigh But he has been seen on surfboard Skimming over warm sea spray.

Children from these warmer countries Never see a flake of snow But the flickering lights of fireworks Set their Christmas night aglow.

For this season for all people Whether near or from afar Is a time of celebration Remembering a special star.
