IS THIS AMERICA?
11”x 14” Gouache on watercolor paper
On January 6, 2021, the United States Capitol was attacked by domestic terrorists who sought to overturn the 2020 presidential election
beating
police
officers
with
flagpoles,
sticks
and
bullhorns. They blinded them with bear spray, tased them, gouged their eyes and more. Officer Harry Dunn, one of the many black capitol police officers who fought for our democracy that day asked, “Is this America? What just happened? Is this America?” Let us never forget the sacrifices that #CapitolPolice and #MPD heroes made that day. This painting was not in the tent solo show, although it is part of my Hero collection, because it was included in the Santa Paula Art Museum, juried group exhibition, WORK FROM HOME I was so honored to have this painting included in the exhibition which ran from Sept 18, 2021 - Jan. 9, 2022.
