I am honored to be one of the 61 artists juried into the "The 13th Annual Art About Agriculture" exhibition now at the Santa Paula Art Museum through March 6, 2022. The Art About Agriculture is a juried, group art exhibition presented annually by the Ag Art Alliance, which was formed in 2007 by Santa Paula artists Gail Pidduck and John Nichols. The purpose of the exhibit is to promote awareness of agriculture by using art to explore its many facets—from workers to water, from the fields, to the food that goes on our plates.
During the pandemic we began to realize how important front line farm workers are to our nation. I pray that we continue to appreciate, protect, honor and thank our essential agricultural heroes. I painted this in September, 2021 which is Food Safety Month. This reminds us that farm workers are on the front lines of providing our food, and preventing food-borne illness. To address threats to food safety, workers need dignified working conditions, training and a culture that encourages them to speak up. True heroes with steadfast devotion providing the world what we need. The exhibition will continue through March 6, 2022 at the beautiful Santa Paula Art Museum on 10th street in Santa Paula.
