SIGNIFICANT AND CONSTANTLY GROWING ORGANIC SUPPORT FOR THE SECTOR

he food industry is progressively growing. Over the first five months of this year, production managed to overcome the 2020 downturn, rising above the final level of 2019 and promising to do even better in the months to follow. This is not yet the case for the milling sector, which is far behind, with a -9.6% drop in production in May 2021/2020 and -9.9% in the fivemonth trend
comparison. The reasons for this accelerated revival of the sector’s turnover lie in the boost of producer prices, which were up 2.5% in the May trend and up 0.9% in the five-month approximate average. While exports will further accelerate this growth, a significant role will be played by organic products, whose domestic market figures also offer a positive outlook for exports.

dati Istat più recenti mostrano una promettente accelerazione della congiuntura della trasformazione alimentare. Infatti, la produzione di maggio del settore evidenzia una spinta tendenziale del +10%, che supera di quasi due punti il “buco” del -8,1% accusato nel maggio 2020. Nei primi cinque mesi dell’anno raggiunge così un tendenziale del +5,0%, anch’esso maggiore di due punti netti rispetto al -3,0% del tendenziale gennaio-maggio 2020. In pratica, la produzione dei primi cinque mesi di quest’anno è riuscita a scavalcare la flessione del 2020, portandosi oltre il livello consuntivo del 2019 e promettendo di fare ancora meglio nei mesi a venire.
