16 V-MAC Co-Pilot Operator’s Manual Electronic Malfunction Indicator The electronic malfunction indicator, amber in color, illuminates to alert the driver of an electrical problem with the vehicle management and control (V-MAC) IV system. The vehicle management and control (V-MAC) IV system does a self-test when the ignition key is turned to the ON position. The electronic malfunction indicator stays on while this test is being performed (approximately six seconds). After the self-test is completed, the indicator will turn off and remain off unless a problem is detected by vehicle management and control (V-MAC) IV. If the indicator turns on while the vehicle is being driven, vehicle management and control (V-MAC) IV has detected a problem. In most circumstances, the vehicle will operate even though the indicator is on; however, engine performance may be affected. For an explanation of fault code activation and interpretation, and a complete listing of these codes, please refer to “Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)”, page 65 of this manual.
