Accelerating a Higher Speed

T o accelerate a higher speed, three methods are available: ess the accelerator pedal (AP). This method will accelerate the vehicle for long the pedal essed. (Release the pedal r eturn the speed set eviously ess the ACCEL switch. This method will accelerate the vehicle for long the switch The new vehicle speed set when the switch (Press the DECEL switch decelerate the The vehicle will decelerate for long the DECEL switch The new vehicle speed set when the switch

Note: The MAX speed set the accelerator pedal may dif ferent from that set the ACCEL switch.

The speed can also (known bump speed) T the ACCEL side bump 1 mi/h tap the DECEL side bump down 1

Disengaging Cruise Control

T o disengage cruise control, use any one the following methods:

1 Apply the service brake. This method will disengage the cruise control while maintaining the set speed the system memory T o resume the previously set press and release the RESUME

2 Disengage the clutch. This method will disengage the cruise control while the clutch disengaged and will resume the speed control when the clutchengaged. This programmable option provides for automatic resume after shifting.

3 Move the Speed Contr ON/OFF switch the OFF position. This method not only disengages the cruise control but also clears the set speed from the system memory T o reactivate the cruise necessary move the switch the position and select a new set

Engine Speed Control

Engine Speed Control Operation

The vehicle management and control - MAC) system also allows the operator set and maintain increased engine speeds. The system provides two dif ferent speed control functions: Electronic Hand Throttle control and O control. electronic hand throttle (EHT) controls engine speed when O not engaged.

Both systems allow two modes control:

1 Single Speed Control (SSC) increases the engine RPM a speed preprogrammed into the system memory This mode intended for operation the O maximum ficiency

2 V ariable Speed Control (VSC) allows the driver set any engine RPM within the preprogrammed low and high limits set the system memory . This mode primarily intended for general O applications and engine warmup.

Note: Brake conditions are configurable, but the standard setting park brake and service brake f engage.

Single Speed Control (SSC)

T o use single speed control the following conditions must met:

1 For power takeof f (PT the O must For electronic hand throttle (EHT) the service brake must OFF

2 The clutch must engaged (not pressed).

T o activate SSC, move the Speed Control switch the position, then press and release the SET switch. The engine speed (RPM) will jump the preprogrammed speed. SSC can also programmed for Auto Set mode. When enabled, simply move the Speed Control switch the position and engage the O activate a customer - defined switch (usually setting the park brake). Engine speed will the preprogrammed speed.

V ariable Speed Control (VSC)

T o use the variable speed control functions, the following conditions must met:

1 The clutch must

2 The park brake must set.

T o activate VSC, move the Speed Control switch the position. Increase engine RPM using the accelerator pedal (AP). the desired engine speed (RPM), press and release the SET switch. This speed setting will maintained.

T o increase the RPM, press and hold the ACCEL switch until the desired speed , press the accelerator pedal until the desired speed attained and then press and release the SET

T o decrease engine press and hold the DECEL switch until the desired speed reached and then release the

RPM can also T the ACCEL side increase the DECEL side decrease RPM the customer - programmed amount (default setting

VSC can also programmed for Auto Set When simply move the Speed Control switch the position and activate a customer - defined switch (usually setting the parking The RPM will the preprogrammed minimum

The for EHT , and for each O O can programmed increase and decrease speed a customer - specified speed using the ACCEL/DECEL

Disengaging SSC VSC Functions

T o disengage the speed control settings, use any one the following methods:

• Move the Speed Control switch the OFF

• Disengage the clutch.

• Apply the service

• Release the parking brake.

Note: When the O engaged vehicles equipped with SSC, the SSC will take precedence over the

Note: T o reactivate the VSC the previously set press and release the RESUME switch. the Speed Control ON/OFF switch used disengage the VSC, a new speed must The RESUME switch will work only the VSC was disengaged using the clutch service brake.

Maximum Engine Speed Limit

This mode allows the maximum engine speed (RPM) limited, based preprogrammed speeds, when O Electronic Hand Throttle (EHT) controls are engaged. The engine will not operate beyond these speeds when the control (PT O EHT) engaged. The operator has control over this operation, and cannot change override these preset limits.

V ehicle Limiting Speed

These programmable modes allow the maximum vehicle speed restricted a preprogrammed speed The driver has control over this and cannot change override these preset Another feature the vehicle limiting speed function Gear Road Speed Limit Feature Activation.” This when will limit vehicle speed gears below top gear a value less than the top gear road speed The purpose this option encourage the operator operate the vehicle top gear , where the optimum fuel economy can

There are two programmable V ehicle Limiting Speeds one for cruise and the other for use with the accelerator pedal

V ehicle Limiting Speed can also limited separate values for each power takeof f (PT O).

Note: The vehicle limiting speed cruise control mode can lower equal the vehicle limiting speed accelerator pedal

Please refer “DPF Inhibit Road Speed Limiting (RSL)” , page for information the aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF) Inhibit Road Speed Limiting function.

High Acceleration Control

Under light high vehicle acceleration the maximum engine acceleration may limited prevent wheel Engine speed (RPM) will limited a value just above the rated speed the

This condition should not prevent the driver from shifting the next gear the engine indication that wheel slippage conditions may present and that the driver should drive less aggressively under these lightly loaded
