his season saw a familiar finishing position of fifth place for the 1st VIII. However what this does not show is how much we have closed the gap between ourselves and Aquinas, Scotch and Christ Church. Only a few sets now separates us from gaining wins over these schools. Clearly Hale School was again the trend setter, however after our fixture with Hale their coach commented that his team certainly knew they had been in a tough encounter with Trinity. While our training and playing venue was in turmoil at the end of 2005, a new agreement is now in place with a long term association with Tennis West for the use of the State Tennis Centre. It is not only very convenient because of its location but creates a great atmosphere when we can have all of our teams playing together at the one venue. It is very encouraging to see all the tennis players start to push boundaries in their preparation through their efforts to develop much higher levels of consistency, strength and fitness. So many of our players can now confidently go on to the court knowing that they can ‘hang in there’ even when the going gets really tough. This attitude is making each member of the team a substantially more difficult opponent. The tennis standard overall of Trinity College has steadily increased over the last three years and the next few years promise to be most exciting.

they have shown with the students in their respective teams. Ian Walker, our professional tennis coach, still maintains a great love of tennis and this combined with his tennis knowledge ensures that we have students who are in very good hands. Well done to Mr Kosovich (who took his 8A team through undefeated), Mrs Zwart and Mrs Fraser who were the Year 8 coaches. The Year 9 coaches were Mr Casey, Mr Rousset and Mr Cooper and the Year 10 coaches were Mr Watson, Mrs Savy-Walsh and Ms Jones. Mr Shackleton was in charge of the 2nd VIII and Mrs Lane the 3rd VIII.
