Student Roll Call

Student Roll Call

The 2006 season was an awesome experience for all involved. Most boys produced a procession of improved times and relished the reward of achieving their personal best. Congratulations to Aquinas in taking out the Moyes Cup for the Senior Team and to the Trinity Juniors for their juggernaut performance going undefeated. Under the coaching of Mr Jamieson, Ms Campisi, Mr James, Mr Privilege, Mr O’Connell and myself the boys had a day trip to Keith’s Surf School and enjoyed several combined training sessions and breakfast with the Iona Cross Country team. I would like to thank all of the coaches for the extra time they put into this season. Under the leadership of Tim Hunt, Liam Plummer, Jay Colton, James Ielati and Josh Hicks the boys in the Senior Team ended up second to Aquinas after beating them on their course in the first fixture. Aquinas from this point on, added to their team (which is within the rules) and surpassed us in the relays. All of our runners were faster by the end of the season as was displayed by the improved times. We didn’t bring home the trophy this season however all can be proud of their efforts. Josh Hicks broke Dave Rossbach’s 5.9km Bridges record, with a time of 19.48. He also ran a time of 34.30 for the 10km Bridges run for the missions. The top ten students were: Josh Hicks Year 10 34.3 Josh Nicholas Year 9 34.49 Liam Plummer Year 12 35.4 Dylan Dewsbury Year 9 37.28

Ronan Casey Year 8 37.29 Eamon Costello Year 9 38.14 James Ambrogio Year 10 39.01 Chris Dale Year 9 39.02 Terence Price Year 9 39.29 Nick McKenna Year 8 39.4 David Scott Year 8 39.4 To run the 10km Bridges in less than forty minutes is a Mr Phillip Jurjevich great achievement and the depth of our young runners Senior Cross Country Manager is enormous. Nine of these runners are in Year 10 or below and this bodes well for the next few seasons. Josh Hicks was the best Senior Runner and Josh Nicholas the best Junior. In the whole Senior competition in the final event of the season they placed 1st and 3rd with Dylan Dewsbury, Ken Duggan, Eamon Costello and Terry Price also in the top thirty of all schools. This was a phenomenal performance from some brave young men. Glenn Marinovich, Dave Vulin and Corbin Mondy all made major improvements in their speed and picked up valuable places in the team. Josh Hicks, Josh Nicholas, Dylan Dewsbury, Eamon Costello, Chris Dale, Kenneth and Aidan Duggan, all went on to represent the state in Cross Country or Middle Distance. At the Ray Brown 8km race in Kings Park, with three of our top four Year 12s not racing; it was a moral win for Trinity. Our proud tradition in running and the pure test of character and spirit is something we are very proud of. The teams jogging back to encourage other Trinity runners and opposition runners, the selflessness in their training and their complete exhaustion showed that this season was a win for a very brave young team.
