Mrs Rosemary Horton Teacher Librarian (Semester one)
he Senior School Library continues to be the centre for resources of information, education and recreation. Students use the library not only during class under the supervision of the teachers, but flock here at other times, especially before school and lunch time.
Our extensive fiction collection which includes graphic novels, audio books and picture books provides a huge supply of recreational reading to encourage boys reading. There is a huge range of attractive visual non-fiction items to capture the interest of the boys. Students can search for their favourite books on the online library catalogue accessible from any computer connected to the internet (http://students.trinity.wa.edu.au/ webopac/) I take this opportunity to thank my efficient and friendly Library Officers, Jenni Properjohn and Catherine Hamilton. Thanks also to the members of entire staff and administration who have supported me in my seven and a half years at Trinity. Mrs Rosemary Horton Teacher Librarian

y name is Luciana Cavallaro, the new teacher-librarian in the PL Duffy Resource Centre. I took over from Rosemary Horton in Semester Two and it has been a very busy time in the library since my arrival. We have made a few physical changes – the Ms Luciana Cavallaro Fiction collection is now Teacher Librarian (Semester two) organised into sub-genres – this makes it easier for students and staff to identify and locate novels. We have also introduced a reading programme for students in Years 8 and 9. This is run with the cooperation and collaboration of the English Department, and classes come to the Library on a fortnightly basis. The introduction of this programme has been very successful with some classes now coming on a weekly basis. We have seen book loans increase due to this programme and the positive outcome is an increase in the number of students reading. Mercedes College and Trinity College run a joint book club that meets twice a term. We are very fortunate to have Natalie Crawford from Dymocks in Claremont who selects and introduces new books to a small but enthusiastic group of students. The books range from Science Fiction to gentler topics. Our final book club session had a Halloween theme, where students and staff dressed up in costumes. I look forward to introducing new initiatives into the PL Duffy Resource Centre in 2007. Ms Luciana Cavallaro Teacher Librarian
