College Board Administration

Board Members At the conclusion of 2006 Mr Wayne Bull and Mrs Moira Sinagra retired from the Board. It is fitting to say that both of these members contributed a great deal during their time in office, both serving on various subcommittees throughout their seven years. I thank them sincerely for their tireless work and support of Trinity College. The Board welcomed Mr Wayne Bowen, Br Kevin Paull and Mr Bob Shields (who joined the Board midway through 2005). These gentlemen have a long association with the College as a parent, past pupil, past teacher and mentor and we are delighted with their appointment.

Strategic Planning & Capital Development With constant referral to our Strategic Plan and using The Charter as our guide, the Board has worked very hard this year to ensure that the College has a sound financial footing before committing any further funds to the capital developments of the College. The Board is very aware of the demands of education in the 21st century and the level of service expected from the families within our community. It has been a year of consolidation, consultation, planning and strict financial attention. This means that in coming years the College will be in a strong position to provide the infrastructure required in this ever changing world of education. The launch of the Chapel and Gibney Hall Restoration Appeal was a very important step towards our process of renewal and continuing to ensure that the buildings within the campus continue to serve the needs of our school effectively. The support for both of these projects has been outstanding and we thank all contributors and ask that all families give consideration to being a part of this worthy cause. The various sub-committees of the Board have been very busy throughout the year, with great results. The Finance Committee has continued to seek ways to ensure that the College continues to be a relatively low fee paying school, whilst at the same time ensuring that our long term financial viability is maintained. A review of all financial expenses has led to some strong initiatives and I thank the members of this hard working committee for their diligence and commitment. As mentioned at Speech Night, the need to review the fee structure is a yearly exercise and requires much debate and serious deliberation. We are very aware of the strong connection to our founder, Blessed Edmund Rice, and continue to support his strong belief that every child deserves an education. The level of support that is provided to many families in our community is something the Board wishes to maintain and continue. With this in mind, we are

constant in our attention to the level of fees and the level of concessions that are offered. The Marketing Committee which includes our Community Relations Officer, Ms Sandra Doick, and Bursar, Mr Michael Burgess, has worked diligently to ensure that we develop a strong connection across all aspects of our vibrant community; I thank these hard working people for their love of the College and their dedication to our spirit. Under the chair of Mrs Moira Sinagra and with a strong membership, the Building and Grounds Committee has developed a strong and effective line of communication with the EPRA and other outside entities. With all the development that is occurring in our section of the city it is important that we at Trinity are seen, heard and continue to play a proactive role in this ongoing development. The importance of the College as an educational precinct is well supported and acknowledged by all entities. Underlying all this hard work is our amazing Bursar, Mr Michael Burgess. His attention to detail and diligent record keeping ensures that all meetings are well documented and that tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively. On behalf of all members of the Board and sub-committees, thank you for all your work. It is pleasing to see an increase in Old Boy involvement at the College. The TOBA Committee and Executive Officer, Mrs Anna Gingell, hope to expand this involvement in 2007. At the conclusion of 2006 we said farewell to Mr Robert Henderson. With the appointment of our new Principal, Mr Ivan Banks, the College can look forward to a strong and continued development of the ethos of Edmund Rice. “Men for Others”, such as Mr Robert Henderson, have shown by personal example the importance of being part of a vibrant, giving and proactive community. I personally, and on behalf of all members of the Board, wish Robert all the very best as he pursues his career in the education of young men in the tradition of Edmund Rice. I thank him for the incredible work that he has done at the College, for his leadership during some difficult times and for his never failing sense of faith and belief in Trinity College. Mrs Leanne O’Dea Chair, Trinity Board
