improvements in facilities and solid achievement in the academic, sporting, cultural and spiritual areas of College life. On behalf of the Board and, I am sure, the parent body, past and present students and friends of Trinity, I acknowledge with gratitude Tony’s great contribution. The board has determined that a succession committee commence the task of advertising for, and obtaining the services of, a Headmaster to commence in 2004. The provincial and members of the Christian Brothers Province Leadership Team will be involved in that process and ultimately make the final selection. On a personal note I have been a member of the College Board and Chairman over the last eight years. In that time I have admired the foresight, vision and leadership qualities Tony Curtis provides. The College has been fortunate and the quality of his leadership is evident in the facilities, the outstanding achievements of our students and the vision and

planning for the future. It is an honour to have been associated with Tony Curtis and the success of Trinity College over that time. On behalf of the board and all friends of Trinity I thank Tony and trust that he will enjoy 2003 at Trinity and ultimately his well earned retirement. On behalf of the board I also wish to thank the College Bursar, Michael Burgess for the competent and diligent assistance provided to me and the board over the last year. I wish to personally acknowledge his unfailing courtesy and assistance to me. Finally, I wish to thank all board members for the talents, energy and dedication which they have brought to the Board’s deliberations in 2002. Mr Daimlen Bowen Chairman

popular event again drew a large crowd of prospective parents. The assistance of senior Trinity students is always a highlight of this day as the tours they provide are always commented on very favourably. One issue that was discussed during the year was: When will the Parent Council plan for Trinity’s third “Family Fete”? The decision this year has been that 2003 is too early, and that maybe 2004 would a good opportunity for another fete. This decision will, however, belong to the members of next year’s Parent Council. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the 2002 Parent Council for their support, for their ideas and for their work at our functions. I particularly thank those parents who, like me, will have completed their very enjoyable term as a member of the Council: Kerry Garrick, Michael O’Neill, Greg Oliver, Heidi Kellner-Marshall and Gavan Jones.

he Parent Council celebrated its ninth year as a support body at Trinity during 2002. The Parent Council has three main objectives: • To be a representative group of parents that can provide immediate feedback to the Principal on a range of issues; • To initiate and plan for parents social and community building activities; and • To engage in fundraising activities to provide additional resources for the College. One of the first activities organized each year is the Parent Council Sundowner. Held early in Term 1, this event is a wonderful opportunity for parents to gather together on a social basis. It is particularly valuable in providing a venue for new parents to the school to be welcomed. This year the Parent Council were able to thank and farewell Eric Dawson, the College’s Property Services Manager, for his years of dedicated service to Trinity. The second of the major events hosted by the Parent Council on a regular basis is the College’s annual Open Day. Despite some cool weather and a few light showers, this
