The First Fifteen proved to be the pedigree team of the 2002 PSA competition. Abrasive at times, resilient to the core, the depth and adaptability of their squad and their considerable desire to win back the championship outclassed and eventually overwhelmed the opposition.
Splendidly led by the heroic Daniel Wiseman, whose principal lieutenants were Joshua Sims the Vice Captain, Shaun Preston and Paul Phillis, the team unequivocally demonstrated that commitment and spirit can be as important as individual skill. The front row of Nicholas Pavy, Min Soo Han, William Brock and Sebastian Derham, were the epitome of obduracy, the second row of Peter Trend and Benjamin Keenan-Smith, beacons of excellence and the back-row triumvirate of Michael Lush, Joshua Sims and Nathan Tucker fast, creative and effective. The halves, Daniel Wiseman and Paul Phillis ran with vigour and kicked with aplomb, the centres, Shaun Preston, James Thompson and Aidan Walton danced through gaps large and small, while the wings and fullback, David Ewart, Simon Dowling, Damien Cribben and Adriaan Wessels, embroidered the season with some audacious runs. Four players, Daniel Wiseman, Shaun Preston, Adriaan Wessels and Joshua Sims were selected in the State U18 team and two, Peter Trend and William Brock in the State U16 team. There was much to be proud of in this Trinity performance. The season was redolent of fortitude and determination with the football devastatingly prolific and sweetly flowing on occasions. Once again, Trinity are PSA champions and the year has yielded a priceless sporting tale to convey to later generations.
