Presentation of caps to new squad members.

The 2001-2002 Cricket season marked the beginning of a new chapter in Trinity Cricket with the development of the Trinity College Centre of Cricket Excellence program. This program was formulated in consultation with parents, coaches and college administrators and will now serve as a key planning document to ensure that Trinity College continues to provide a coaching and cricket development program second to none in Western Australian schools.
The addition of Mr Rod Rainer (former Cricket Development Officer and School Cricket Coordinator at WACA), and former Western Australian cricketer Mr Graeme Porter, to the College’s teaching/coaching staff significantly enhanced the quality of coaching offered at Trinity College
1ST XI CRICKET
The 1st XI completed a successful season that was marked by steady improvement throughout the Newson Competition and over the Summer Holiday period. The college was instrumental in establishing the Summer Challenge carnival held in conjunction with Guildford Grammar School, John Forrest Senior High School and Midland-Guildford District Cricket Club. The first two rounds in the Darlot Cup resulted in victories over Christ Church and Wesley. Michael Embley’s performance against Christ Church (105 & 5/27) and David Bradley’s successive half-centuries enabled the side to play some outstanding cricket and grow in confidence.
In the following rounds excellent performances included: captain and WAU/17 representative David Bradley (half century), Michael Smith (118 vs GGS), John Glen (5/50 vs Scotch) and wicket keeper Aaron Vincec (half century and 5 dismissals vs Scotch and Wesley).
I would like to thank all coaching staff, Mr Porter (2nd XI), Mr Johns (3rd XI), Mr D. Tobin (1st XI Manager), and players, for their support and commitment throughout the season, particularly Michael Smith, Ben Smith and Callum Johnson for their efforts and support as Captain and Vice-captains, respectively.
2ND XI CRICKET
Trinity scored victories over Christ Church, Wesley and Scotch and tied with Guildford.
Better batting performances included Chris Mather (31), Marcus Santarini (37), Ryan Smith (45 and 46) and Gerry Hill (27).
Better bowling performances included Dustin Halse (4/16 and 4/43), Ben Browness (3/8), Sam Miles (2/48), Simon Duca (3/1) and Joshua Sims (3/18). Century makers.
3RD XI CRICKET 2002
Under the wise leadership of Nathan Messer, the Thirds had what could be called a ‘quality’ season. Standards of dress, training and commitment were all of a very high order. The team won as many as they lost, but all were hotly contested.
Some outstanding players were Ed Smyth (near 100 runs and more than 10 wickets); Michael Pigram (close to 100 runs and almost 10 wickets); Tim Johnston, Lloyd Reidy, Nathan Messer, Daniel Brierty. (Some special performances)
10A CRICKET
The team performed creditably with 3 wins and 3 losses. The match against Guildford was the highlight with a run chase which resulted in a Trinity victory, surpassing the opposition’s total of 3/174. Preston O’Keefe scored a century in this innings, the best batting performance of the season. Chris Wills performed consistently throughout the season to win the Year 10 award
10B CRICKET
The team performed well, winning about half their games. They showed great team spirit and always displayed excellent sportsmanship.
9A CRICKET
The Year 9Acricket team had a very successful season with some outstanding results. Three boys made fifties through the season, Matthew Birrell, Doug Bowen and Jacob Foley. The teams bowling stocks had good depth with some talented performances from Will Hawtin, Matthew Fitzsimons and Dane Lazarus
9B CRICKET
The team remained undefeated until the last game against Hale School. The team spirit and sportsmanship was always excellent. Shamis Bin Sali was the best performed team player.
8A CRICKET
The 8Acricket team has had an outstanding season. All the boys contributed to the team in some way and the stand out performers this season were Perry Colyer, Danny Coyne, Tim Hunt, James McPherson and Bernard Sneeuwjagt. Well done lads on the sportsmanship and spirit with which you played.
8B CRICKET
The team won 3 games and lost 2. All players showed good team spirit and sportsmanship. William Birch won the Service and Contribution award.
