The board is confident that the fund-raising appeal together with budgeted borrowings for the finance of planned developments are in place. The College is able to undertake necessary commitments secure in the knowledge that borrowings for past developments are being serviced and will be reduced over coming years. I wish to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of finance committee chairman John Featherby and his committee for the hours spent attending to the finances of the College. Irene Hislop, chairperson of the marketing committee, is to be commended for the work her committee has done in promoting the College, its facilities and the achievements of its staff and students. The favorable enrolment position at Trinity has been enhanced by their efforts. The East Perth Redevelopment Authority (EPRA) plans for future development in the area surrounding Trinity College have been available for public comment. The College has presented parents with materials concerning these plans and will continue to do so over the months ahead. Trinity intends to remain in East Perth. EPRA is aware of this, and has incorporated into its plans and visions for the future the permanent presence of Trinity College. There are opportunities for the College, for further development and enhancements to the campus facilities and grounds. The school’s executive and board will maintain a close involvement in these plans and will continue to consult, and maintain good relationships with EPRA. By now all parents will be aware that Tony Curtis is retiring at the end of the 2003 academic year. The nine years he has been Headmaster have been marked with great

n October the College’s Capital Development Plan and fundraising appeal were launched. In presentations to parents, the College executive reflected upon the major building projects the College had been engaged in over the past ten years and “showcased” the College’s plans for new projects for the future. Next year a new Olympic sized swimming pool incorporating a competition water polo pool will be built and commissioned. The board has supported the generous initiative of the Trinity Old Boys’ Association (TOBA) to upgrade the pavilion and change room facilities at Waterford. TOBA has undertaken to raise all of the finance necessary for this worthwhile and ambitious project and has already received pledges for a significant portion of the expected cost. The administration facilities at Trinity are sorely in need of upgrading. The present facilities are inadequate for the existing executive and administrative staff. They are operating from cramped facilities which makes their task very difficult. Improved facilities for the teaching of music are needed. All are aware of the outstanding contribution the College musicians and vocalists make to the College. The remarkable achievements of Trinity students in all aspects of music over the last several years is all the more commendable when the demands upon existing facilities are taken into account. In an on going endeavour to provide Trinity with the best possible facilities, projects under consideration include the funding and building of a purpose built performing arts centre. The response of parents to the fundraising appeal has been generous and already the College has received many pledges.
