Cobar VIEW members reminisce on 40 fabulous years Cobar VIEW Club’s 40th birthday party on Saturday certainly was a happy affair with 24 ladies, including three from Warren VIEW Club, attending. The gathering took place at the Empire function room which featured a burst of club coloured balloons, serviettes and the VIEW banner on display. VIEW is a national volunteer organization providing opportunities for women to meet regularly, establish lasting friendships and help disadvantaged Australian children through supporting the Smith Family Charities. To have been actively involved in this partnership for 40 years is indeed an impressive milestone and the Cobar VIEW Club acknowledges the ongoing support of the local community in this venture. Membership pins were presented to Kate Winders (a founding member) for her 40 years, Dora Difilippo, 30 years and Barbara Bartlett, 20 years. Nell Merritt and Kaye Saddler’s 10 year pins will be forwarded to them. A display of 1980’s clothing supplied by Patricia Porter, provided interesting conversation while fun activities of a topical quiz and pass the parcel game relating to birthdays, got everyone thinking. Relaxing music by John Peebles, the cake cutting by Kate Winders and Jean Poulter, a raffle won by Ruth Bradshaw, together with a scrumptious meal, all added to the success of the event.—contributed Among those celebrating the Cobar VIEW Club’s 40th anniversary on Saturday at the Empire Hotel were Jean Poulter, Dora Difilippo, current club president Enid English
