Excitement builds for Championships

Two Bowls Club Championships Singles games were played at the Golfie on Sunday and both proved to be exciting games.
Craig ‘Duck’ Grimmond started strong in his match with Greg Read to lead by seven shots by the 7th end.
Read rallied to make it five up in his favour by the 15th before ‘Duck’ fought back to be one point in front by the 18th end.
There were just two points separating the pair for the next six ends and then they were even twice.
Finally, on the 27th end - Read claimed the win by three shots which takes him through to the semi finals.
The other Singles game between David ‘Ooze’ Knight and Don Roberts was an outstanding display of bowls and there was barely a point separating them all game.
‘
Ooze’ managed to hold shot for the final six ends and finished with a +6 win which now takes him through to the semi finals.
In the social bowls games played on Sunday, the team of Gerard Livingston, David Thomas and Deagan Brown finished as +5 winners over their opposition, Doug Hudson, Greg Clark and Michael Harvey.
Yet again there was barely a point between the two sides all game.
The runners-up on the social front were John ‘Shark’ Daly, Paul Kershaw and Glenn ‘Kiwi’ Ratcliffe who had a +3 win in their match against Anthony Polack, Karen Daly and Daryl Jermyn.
