Peebles pips Dunn by one stroke

Glenda Peebles had a great win in last Wednesday’s Ladies Golf event, a Stroke round, with a net score of 74.

She was closely followed by Ann Dunn who had 75 net and also claimed the ‘putting queen prize’ after having 24 putts over the 18 holes.

Daphne Cross was next best with 77 net and Sally Bannister had 79 net.

Only five players lined up for Saturday’s Par game.

Julie Livingston, on -2, held off Fay Hardwick (-3) for the win.

Nearest the Pin prizes on the 11th hole went to Sally Bannister, Barb Barklimore and Daphne Cross.

A better turn out on Sunday saw 10 golfers take on the blustery cold winds in a Stableford event. Sally Bannister had a very good round scoring 37 points to take the win.

Nadine McLeod claimed second spot on a countback from Pat Polack (after both finished with 35 points) while Fay Hardwick managed 34 points.

The closest to the flag on the 15th hole were Livingston, Jannine Wilkin and McLeod.

A few Cobar lady golfers made the trek to Wanaaring on the weekend and cleaned up the prize pool nicely. Robynne Morton was the 27 hole Scratch winner with 173 off the stick.

Karen Manns was the runner-up with 181 off the stick and was also the winner of the Ladies’ Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive prizes.

Brenda Fugar was the 27 hole Handicap runner-up with 167 ½ net.

A Stableford is to be played today and a Par game is scheduled for Saturday.

May’s trophy day will be contested on Sunday as a Stroke game. T'd Off
