Construction of child care centre is well underway

Construction of Cobar Shire Council’s 88 place Early Learning Centre and a Multipurpose Hall at Ward Oval is now underway.
Cobar Shire Council’s Project Co-Ordinator Carly Hunter met with the contractor, David Payne Constructions, on site last week and provided an update on the project.

The preparation of concrete slabs will begin in June, with a concrete pour targeted for the end of June (weather permitting),” she said.
“
Once building slabs are complete, July framing to the Early Learning Centre, and core -filled block walls installed to the Multipurpose Hall.
“The project is still on track for site works to be complete in early 2024, with the official opening of the Early Learning Centre to happen as soon as possible after building works are complete.”
Mrs Hunter said Council’s project team are very busy managing a number of large projects that are all currently underway.
“Council has recently completed the gravelling on the Yathong Road, is undertaking significant flood damage repair works around the shire and in the preparation stages of the 15km Grain Road seal extension,” Mrs Hunter said.
“Among other things, we are also working very hard in the background to prepare the documentation for the exciting future developments at the Museum, with works scheduled to commence onsite later in the year.”

A radiographer oversees and runs the service, supported by other health service staff in each location along with Aboriginal Health Workers.

“Scans are read by radiologists, who will report on images remotely from other areas of the District or from Sydney,” Mr Harvey said.
“Many of these patients would previously have needed to consider going to Dubbo for a CT, at the hospital or a private provider.
The earthworks for the foundations of Cobar Shire Council’s Early Learning Centre and Multipurpose Hall at Ward Oval are almost complete. “On top of improving access to care for patients, this service also helps GPs to provide care locally and reduces the number of patients transferred to Dubbo from hospitals.”
