High scoring games feature across all grades

High scoring games featured across all grades in Round 4 of the Cobar Junior Soccer competition at Ward Oval on Saturday.

The Seniors game was a goal-fest with Wanderers eventually beating Rangers 5-4. Wanderers’ goals were scored by Isaac Theakston (2), Rebecca Hibbert, Jayden Cryer and Maddie Bruce. In reply Jeremy Theakston (2), Jacob Theakston and Aiden Porter booted goals for Rangers.

The Seniors Gumnuts Milkshake award winners were Jayden Cryer and Aiden Porter while the Cobar Hotbake Donut awards were collected by Maddie Bruce and Parker Cryer.

In the Minis division, United had a 5-1 win in their match over Wanderers with Max Preisig the key goal scorer for United kicking all of their five goals while Jim Arnold managed to find the back of the net scoring Wanderers’ lone goal.

In the other Minis game, Rangers finished with a super close 3-2 win in their match with Rovers with Darcy Geppert scoring for his Rangers team and Samuel McKervey was Rovers’ scorer.

The Minis Donut Awards went to Mason Hill, Jim Arnold, Ethan Jebb and Macie Wilkins while Jack Joss, Juan Engelbrecht, Mason Northfield and Michael Arnold earned the Milkshake Awards.

In the Mids competition, United and Liverpool played out a thrilling 3-all draw.

Xavier Foster, Henry Geppert and Tom Geppert scored goals for Liverpool while Tom Preisig, Zara Patterson and Ashton Hyland netted a goal each for United.

In the other Mids game, although Rovers were outnumbered in players, the ball spent equal amounts of time at each end of the field, and Rovers held out to record a 2-1 win over Rangers.

Mark McBride and Joseph Theakston scored the Rovers’ goals and Henry Ntamuhanga scored for his Rangers team, while a newcomer to Mids, Lenny Hill, made a great save playing as Goalie.

The Mids Milkshake Awards were collected by Zara Patterson, Xavier Foster, Henry Ntamuhanga and Josh McMillan while Jack Preisig, Tilly Doll, Joshua Ho Wing and Lenny Hill took home the Donut Awards.
