Two generous donations
Bev and Terry Clyde handed over a $1,000 donation from the Cobar Buffalo Lodge last week to the Cobar Hospital Auxiliary’s treasurer Heather Collins to help the Auxiliary with their work to improve patient comfort at the Cobar Health Service. The Buffaloes also gave another $1,000 donation to the Lilliane Brady Village Pink Ladies committee.

New category for race fashions
The Cobar Miners Race Club has made a change this year for their Fashions on the Field competition with a new Contemporary Lady category being added. Fashions coordinator Nat Prisk said the new category has been created to allow “non traditional” race day outfits to be included in the judging. “This category is open to more artistic designs that wouldn’t normally be accepted under traditional racewear fashion rules,” Nat said. For fashionistas who like to bend the rules, the Contemporary Lady category was made for them. “Throw out all the conventional rules! “If you think your outfit is normally a bit too bright, arty or a little too night clubby for the Fashions scene, then this is your category,” Nat said Outfits however still need to be coordinated with attention to detail a must. “Deportment and attention to grooming is still required,” she said. Judges of the Classic Lady category will be looking for an overall elegant look with well coordinated accessories including headwear that is appropriate for Autumn. A tip for the gentlemen is to go for race day fashion rather than a corporate look. Teens and entrants in the Miss and Master categories are advised to aim for originality and “an overall elegant look that works as a whole with coordinated accessories”. Headwear for the Millinery section must be styled with the Autumn season in mind.
