POWER BOATS

@ SOUTHPORT YACHT CLUB - VICE COMMODORE POWER

Ken Tregeagle VICE COMMODORE POWER Hello all, Well winter is almost upon us again and I must say that I like boating more in the cooler months than in summer. Our season is progressing well with the cruisers having enjoyed more memorable gatherings at Millionares row as well as The Easter cruise and the May Cruise. Look out for the The End of Season review. Sadly the Chaos Cup had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances hopefully we will have better luck next season. Our Club’s Navigation Championship competition is continuing well with the Round Crab Island Open Raw Score being won by Todd and Phill Brooker in M I A with Justin and Mathew Sinnamon coming second, and Paul Mathews and Ron Wheeler taking third. The handicap winner was Noelene Tregeagle and crew with Graham Webb and Tony O’Keefe second and Allan Mercer’s team on Liberty (Alley Cat) in third place . The next event was the Buck Jones Memorial with the raw score taken by you guessed it !!!!! The Brookers in MIA and second spot won by Graham and Tony in Island Clipper third was awarded to Paul and Ron in Martini. The Handicap win was awarded to Steve Manchester and PC Phill Short in Bell Tempo, and second was carried by Justin and Mat in Safari with myself and Noelene in Babe ll filling third. It’s lucky I wasn’t scored on my ‘Anchoring’ results. With only two events left in this year the Commodore’s Trophy in Moreton Bay and the Associates SYC Open in June to complete the season. The results are close so good luck to everyone. The Power Boat Presentation night will be on the 29/6/19 and is open to all power boaters so come and join us we are always looking for members to enjoy our sport and camaraderie. The Anzac Day Honour Guard was once again a moving experience for all of our members who participated and the support given by the Coast Guard, Volunteer Marine Rescue and the Queensland water Police whose contribution enhanced the much deserved respect for those who paid the ultimate price to protect the life and freedoms we all enjoy. ‘lest we forget’
