toegespreek. Uitreksel uit Notule: LEGAL OPINION DRAFT FIREARMS AMENDMENT ACT (MARTIN HOOD) The Chairman welcomes Nicky Bernhard, owner of Bernhard Agencies (Glock Agents for SA) and Vice Chairman of SAAADA. The Chairman thanked Martin Hood for his presence at the meeting. CHASA was formed to address challenges to hunting and challenges for firearm ownership. Members must be made aware that they will have to pay to hold on to their firearms as we have the most serious fight on our hands that has ever been faced in the last 25 years. The proposal to the firearms Bill was far more radical than what was anticipated. We need to think clearly on how to raise capital and our spending to enable us to keep our firearms.

These proposals are purposeful and deliberate. SAAADA, Nicky and some of their other individual members has been involved with litigation to get the CFR functioning. The action that CHASA and SAAADA took against SAPS resulted in us being recognised as serious stakeholders. CHASA is very strongly and uniquely situated and combined with SAAADA, as well as individually, to be recognised and be part of, and to drive the processes which are going to take place. To maintain a presence – the CEO must represent CHASA in parliament yearly which has cost implications legal opinions with a cost implication of R320 000.00 - to be split between CHASA and SAAADA. The Legal opinion has given us a road map to deal with the amendments.
