2023 - 2024 ADMISSIONS INFORMATION

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
At Holy Trinity School (HTS), we have the responsibility to honour and respectfully acknowledge that we are gathered on the ancestral lands and waters of all Indigenous peoples who have left their footprints here before us.
Holy Trinity School is located on the traditional lands and territory of Williams Treaty First Nations including the Chippewas of Beausoleil, Georgina Island and Rama as well as the Mississaugas of Alderville, Curve Lake, Hiawatha, and Scugog Island. We recognize the Chippewas of Georgina Island as our closest neighbouring First Nation.
We will be responsible stewards in protecting these lands today and for future generations who have yet to walk upon it.
MISSION
HTS is committed to educational excellence, as measured by readiness for university entrance, and to the development of the character and individual abilities of our students within the context of Christian values and personal integrity.
VISION
A world where everybody honours each other’s potential.
OUR COMMITMENT TO INCLUSION
At HTS, we value respect, compassion and dignity – the underpinnings of our Christian beliefs and everything that we do. With these values, we develop knowledge, skills and empathy for others in our students. HTS welcomes every person without discrimination because of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status, or disability.
HTS is committed to ensuring that the key principles of equity, fairness and inclusion are integrated into all of our policies, programs, operations and practices. We also ensure that the personal integrity, personal safety and wellbeing of all our community members are respected. The inclusive environment at HTS allows our students to develop diverse perspectives that enable them to thrive in our school community and as global citizens.
A Message from the Head of School

Dear Families,
We know that our rapidly-evolving world needs confident, curious, intellectually agile and empathetic citizens. At HTS, we are leaders in learning. We believe in providing a progressive educational experience and preparing our students for a life where they will adapt and thrive.
HTS transforms lives.
HTS is a world-class learning ecosystem that inspires individuals to live their best selves. By providing an inclusive environment where learners experience self-discovery and connection, HTS allows individuals to ignite, explore and fulfill their curiosity. HTS knows that transforming lives transforms the world; this is both our purpose and promise.
Our vision engages learners in a relationship that is driven by knowing one’s strengths, interests and areas for growth. We recognize and honour the uniqueness and dignity of every learner; we foster their agency and choice, while inviting them to be courageous to try new things and explore new opportunities.
We can deliver on this because our staff are dedicated, caring professionals who are committed to their learners and their own professional learning. They, along with our students, create an environment where everyone achieves their personal best. You will know what I mean when you visit and spend some time coming to know and meet the best part of HTS – the people.
On behalf of all the community, I am grateful that you have decided to learn more about our incredible school – a place where learning is inspiring, innovative and impactful. This booklet has just some of the information you will need to make your decision; but I invite you to come for a visit and learn more from our greatest ambassadors – our students, staff and families.
I can’t wait to meet you,
Helen Pereira-Raso

Our Vision for Transformational Learning
Our Vision for Transformational Learning
COMMUNITY
In our nurturing world, everyone’s unique experience is valued and embraced.
CURIOSITY
We stand for the limitless freedom to discover, create, imagine, and inspire this in others.
SELF-ACTUALIZATION
An inclusive space where learners experience the journey of becoming their true self. An acceptance of self and others as they are. Confident and independent, yet always mindful of others.
OurValues
We are a borderless, inclusive global learning ecosystem where the world is the true classroom and the most rewarding, important learning is through experience. We inspire the courageous to expand their curiosity for the benefit of themselves and all of us.
HTS is an inclusive learning network where learners are inspired to become their best self. By experiencing self-discovery and connection, learners can ignite, explore, and fulfill their curiosity because HTS knows that transforming lives transforms the world.
COMPASSION
Ours is a culture of respect and dignity, where we strive to walk in each other’s shoes.
COURAGE
HTS embraces openmindedness, fearlessly trying new things, and speaking your truth.
HTS learners are inspired by ideas and driven to know themselves, others, and the world. They embody the HTS belief that curiosity changes everything—and when that curiosity is expanded, it leads to:
• A new, evolved perspective

• A greater sense of self in the context of others and the world
• Intellectual agility
• Ability to make meaningful change
• Creating with intention
• Development of character and values as the foundation to lifelong learning
HTS offers a world-class educational experience in every sense. But it’s the way we think about and build that experience — captured here in four fundamental approaches — that elevates it into the values-driven, character-shaping, personally transformational experience it has become for students from all walks of life.
BELONGING We’re not only open to who you are, we’re driven by you becoming it. With open access, opportunity, and advancement for every learner, HTS thrives on a diversity of perspectives and lived experiences as it strengthens our community.
CURATED EXPERIENCES One of the most powerful things you can do as learning professionals is to give agency and ownership over learning itself, its processes, pace and decisions, to our learners. This allows HTS to deliver intentional, curated experiences based on learners’ desires, strengths and curiosities.
COMPETENCIES FOR LIFE
A diploma isn’t enough: We seek to nurture and instill the skills, knowledge and disposition that will guide our students in all aspects of their lives, here and beyond. So ingrained in our learning experience are the HTS Six Competencies for Life: communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, character and citizenship.
AUTHENTIC LEARNING As the the next generation of world citizens, our students face having to navigate life’s complexities, detours, and interconnectedness on a much greater scale than ever before. It calls for a learning experience that leaves them agile and adaptable for today’s world – to gain multiple levels of knowledge, the ability to own a broad perspective, and the development of a critical mind.
Equity and Inclusion at HTS
HTS, WHERE EVERY LEARNER IS SEEN, HEARD AND EMPOWERED TO MAKE AN IMPACT IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND THE WORLD.
In order for students, families and our staff to thrive, they need to feel that they belong in our community. Inclusion is at the heart of our students’ well-being and academic success. HTS’s mission is to enable each and every student to learn effectively, and to improve learning outcomes for all, regardless of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status or disability. The School upholds the principles of respect for human rights enshrined in the Ontario Human Rights Code. We do this intentionally, while knowing that, collectively, we have work to do in order to make our community the most welcoming and safe place for all students, staff, families, volunteers and guests visiting our campus.

We recognize that equity of opportunity and equity of access to the full range of programs, delivery of services and resources are critical to the achievement of successful educational and social outcomes.
HTS strives to provide an education that equips students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to live in an increasingly diverse world. This involves a commitment to inclusive education, and identifying and eliminating discriminatory biases and systemic barriers, whether overt or subtle, intentional or unintentional that may limit students’ learning, growth and contribution to society. Allyship, learning and unlearning is an ongoing journey — we only make progress through consistent and continual efforts across our school and communities. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that HTS is a safe and inclusive learning environment so that all students thrive.
Our students are leading the way. With many councils, clubs and learning groups already formed, we are proud of our students and staff for forging an incredible path to make HTS a better school. The Corridors article, Educating Humanity by Fostering Diversity and Inclusion by Joy Idami ’21, Deborah Ojo ’22, Richard Rubin ’21 and Oscar Song ’21, provides many great examples of actions currently being taken and future implementations. INCLUSIVE CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT PRACTICES

Curriculum is defined as the total learning environment, including physical environment, learning materials, pedagogical practices, assessment instruments, and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. At HTS, students must feel engaged in and empowered by what they learn, supported by teachers, and welcomed in their learning environment. This is achieved through effective instructional strategies, and inclusive curriculum and assessment practices that reflect the diverse needs of all students and their learning pathways.
Students will be provided with authentic and relevant opportunities to learn about diverse histories, cultures and perspectives. Students should see themselves represented in the curriculum, programs and culture of HTS. We will draw upon teaching strategies that have been proven to support student success, including reviewing resources, instruction, and assessment and evaluation practices to identify and eliminate stereotypes, discriminatory biases and systemic barriers. Providing opportunities for formative assessment (assessment for learning) is an essential component of an inclusive curriculum, as is differentiated instruction and students’ being provided multiple and varied opportunities to demonstrate their learning. Effective evaluation includes researched practices that are triangulated, improve students’ learning and reflect the most recent and most consistent level of achievement.
Partners in Our Learner-Centred Community
At HTS, everyone plays a key role in developing our students and living our organizational values. As an organization, here are the ways we ensure everyone is doing their part to create a vibrant, caring and dedicated learning community.
SCHOOL LEADE R
AS VISIONARY AND MENTOR:
Leaders inspire, model, create opportunities, elevate, mentor and celebrate the achievements of staff and students. School leaders live the school’s mission, vision and values by building a school culture that is collaborative, agile, collegial and future-forward. School leaders work to build an organizational culture that is joyful, inspiring, supportive and innovative.
STUDE NT AS DESIGNER AND CO-CREATOR:
Students play a key role as agents in their learning. They are co-creators and designers of their learning experiences and pathways. They know their strengths, passions and interests.
Additionally, students are able to identify the areas they need to grow in order to become their best selves and achieve the goals they set out for themselves.
EDUCATORS AS ARCHITECT AND LEAD LEARNER:
Educators are caring, intelligent, flexible and dedicated professionals who design learning experiences that are relevant and meaningful for their learners. They are dedicated to professional renewal and knowing their students — striving for excellence. They create an inspiring learning environment that is engaging, rigorous, supportive and inclusive.
PARENT
AS COLLABORATOR AND PARTNER:
Parents are models of lifelong learning. Parents are collaborators and partners in their child’s learning journey; they help build their child’s confidence and independence, just as students build their self-awareness and agency. Parents, educators and students work together to ensure that each student achieves their goals and is empowered to define their own pathways.
Our Campus

HTS is an irresistible place of learning thanks to the unwavering support we have received from generous parents, staff, alumni and friends that has enabled HTS to grow into the school it is today.

We have just completed a multi-year construction and renovation of our spaces transforming how students, parents, alumni and guests interact with each other and engage in the physical environment – all of which fosters inspiration, cultivates creativity, and promotes health, well-being and a sense of community and belonging. The spaces and changes have had an incredible impact on the curriculum and the school schedule and provides further opportunities to grow and expand our student learning and programming.

Specialty Senior School Programs
HTS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The HTS Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to gain professional, real-world and hands-on experiences that empowers them to make an impact on their community and beyond. The program is born out of a student’s passion from one of their academic and career interests. The Internship Program begins in Grade 9 where students have multiple opportunities to explore their passions and interests, through informational interviews, career nights and potential job shadow days. As students progress in Senior School, there will be additional opportunities for students to participate in a professional-based work placement and meet with a mentor over the course of their placement. Our parents and alumni play a key role in the various mentor roles, and their wisdom and experience add a tremendous value and help prepare students for the changing workforce and for life beyond HTS.
THE HIVE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
This program is a cooperative education credit completed in the context of a co-curricular program. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn how to prepare, engage and succeed in the workforce. Students have partnered with STEM Minds to develop an innovative software program, leveraging skills in animation, graphic design, project management and design thinking. HTS is a member of the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) Network, in which students have opportunities to solve real-world problems in a professional context while being mentored by employers. To learn more about CAPS, visit yourcapsnetwork.org.

PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS
The Private Music Lesson Program is open to students in Grades 1 to 5 for an additional fee. Each student enrolled in the program will receive a weekly 30-minute private one-on-one lesson in either voice or piano during the school day. Students in other grades may also be accepted into the program by special arrangement. Lessons begin in mid-September and run until June in three sessions. At the end of the school year, the students perform in a recital.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS PROGRAM
The Connections program was launched in 2019 with the purpose to have our students/staff engage with our Connections partners by learning, sharing and serving with our community partners (local and national) throughout the year.
Each month has been intentionally organized to align with a national month or a national day. This allows students to share their experiences/connections with our community partners and to provide an opportunity for our partners to engage (face to face, virtual, or recorded) with our students. We have 22 Connections partners!
BREAKAWAY TRIPS
As part of our long-standing start up programming, we offer students in Grades 5 to 12 the opportunity to “Breakaway” in the second week back at school. Grounded and guided by our Student Life Framework, a program of activities and experience has been designed for each grade in order to build community, foster new friendships and set each student up for a successful year of learning.
VIRTUAL LEARNING HUB
The HTS Virtual Learning Hub provides students (K to Grade 12) with virtual academic support in mathematics from Monday through Friday between 5:00pm and 9:00pm and 12:00pm to 4:00pm one day per weekend. There may be times where students are referred to the Virtual Learning Hub by their teacher to get extra support around key concepts. Our Virtual Learning Hub teachers are experienced educators who are available to provide further instruction and support with homework and assessments. Our Virtual Learning Hub team works as an extension to our daytime program; they truly are partners with our classroom teachers.
TECHNOLOGY
HTS students have multiple learning pathways that are embedded into our program to maximize learning and student empowerment. The learning pathways ensure that every student has experiences that are unique to HTS, and the use of technology enables and enriches this for every student. Technology has also fostered a creative, global and connected classroom experience. HTS is committed to developing innovative environments for our students to grow and develop in all the digital competencies they will need to thrive, while maintaining a positive and ethical digital identity.

ANNUAL FUND DONATION
HTS is an independent, not-for-profit, school that provides an educational experience that is nothing short of exceptional. The Annual Fund supports initiatives that enhance and enrich school life above what is covered by tuition as well as student financial aid. Families are encouraged to donate a minimum of $1,500 per child, annually. These donations allow for upgrades to our resources and tools in the classroom, enhanced facilities and specialized programming. An official donation receipt will be issued for the full amount of your Annual Fund donation.
There are two designations to choose from when you donate:
Head’s Discretionary Fund
Funds support the strategic vision of HTS. Chosen by the Head of School, these funds go toward areas in the school that require enhancements to match our innovative programming. This could include outfitting our classrooms with new equipment, providing funds for a new initiative or directed to our new spaces. The Head’s Discretionary Fund provides the option to elevate learning experiences for our students throughout the year.
Student Financial Aid
HTS provides an outstanding academic environment, establishes a foundation of values, a sense of community and instills purpose in our students. We believe that the purpose of education is to prepare students for life and that every child should be given a chance to experience HTS, irrespective of the household financial ability. For this reason, donors to the Annual Fund can designate their gift to Student Financial Aid.
