HOW TO APPLY

STEP 1: VISIT HTS

Getting to know the school is an essential part of the research process. We invite you to join one of our Tuesday Tours and Open Houses to hear about the HTS experience directly from our students, faculty and the Admissions Team. Dates, times and registration are available on the HTS website at hts.on.ca/takeatour

STEP 2: SUBMIT AN APPLICATION

1. Complete the online application at hts.on.ca/apply. We encourage families to submit an application by December 1, 2022. Initial offers of acceptance will be sent out by email on February 1, 2023. Applications will continue to be accepted throughout the year.

2. Submit the supporting documents by email to admissions@hts.on.ca.

• Copies of the applicant’s report cards from the current year and final report cards from the past two years

• A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate or passport

• A recent photo of the applicant

• Teacher reference form completed by the applicant’s current teacher after the fall progress report

• $150 (non-refundable) application fee

• $300 (non-refundable) application fee for International students

STEP 3: INTERVIEWS AND ASSESSMENTS

The Admissions Office will contact parents to arrange an interview and the appropriate assessment once the application and supporting documents have been received.

JK-Grade 5: A family ‘Meet and Greet’ interview will be arranged for all applicants. Following this stage of the application process some candidates will be invited to participate in a classroom observation which is the second and final stage prior to making a decision. During the classroom observation our Admissions Team will observe students in a classroom setting looking for evidence of their communication, literacy, numeracy, and social development skills. Additionally, we will assess students on their readiness for school.

Grades 6-12: An interview with the Admissions Team will be arranged for each applicant and their parents. After an initial family ‘Meet and Greet’, students will complete an assessment package and interview with some of our Admissions Team. While students are completing this stage of the application process, parents will stay in the interview room and meet with our Admissions Team. The applicant will complete an assessment which will provide the Admissions Team insight into the applicant’s language, math and communications skills, and their learner attributes. Following this stage of the application process, some candidates will be invited to participate in a classroom visit.
