Lower School students receive morning and afternoon snacks in their classrooms. Middle School students receive a morning snack in their classroom and an afternoon snack with their lunch. Fresh fruit is available to Senior School students during the day.

Private Music Lessons

The Private Music Lesson Program is open to students in Grades 1 to 5 for an additional fee. Each student enrolled in the program will receive a weekly 30-minute private one-on-one lesson in either voice or piano during the school day. Students in other grades may also be accepted into the program by special arrangement. Lessons begin in mid-September and run until June in three sessions. At the end of the school year, the students perform in a recital.

Community Connections Program

The Connections program was launched in 2019 with the purpose to have our students/staff engage with our Connections partners by learning, sharing and serving with our community partners (local and national) throughout the year.

Each month has been intentionally organized to align with a national month or a national day. This allows students to share their experiences/connections with our community partners and to provide an opportunity for our partners to engage (face to face, virtual, or recorded) with our students. We have 22 Connections partners!

Breakaway Trips

As part of our long-standing start up programming, we offer students in Grades 5 to 12 the opportunity to “Breakaway” in the second week back at school. Grounded and guided by our Student Life Framework, a program of activities and experience has been designed for each grade in order to build community, foster new friendships and set each student up for a successful year of learning.

Virtual Learning Hub

The HTS Virtual Learning Hub provides students (K to Grade 12) with virtual academic support in mathematics from Monday through Friday between 5:00pm and 9:00pm and 12:00pm to 4:00pm one day per weekend. There may be times where students are referred to the Virtual Learning Hub by their teacher to get extra support around key concepts. Our Virtual Learning Hub teachers are experienced educators who are available to provide further instruction and support with homework and assessments. Our Virtual Learning Hub team works as an extension to our daytime program; they truly are partners with our classroom teachers.

Technology

HTS students have multiple learning pathways that are embedded into our program to maximize learning and student empowerment. The learning pathways ensure that every student has experiences that are unique to HTS, and the use of technology enables and enriches this for every student. Technology has also fostered a creative, global and connected classroom experience. HTS is committed to developing innovative environments for our students to grow and develop in all the digital competencies they will need to thrive, while maintaining a positive and ethical digital identity.
