The Department of Aeronautical Engineering is the largest department offering project based programmes in Aeronautical and Aerospace at Bachelor, Master and Doctorate levels with an excellent academic and research standing. Specifically, there are three undergraduate programmes under Aeronautical, and Aerospace or Aeronautical with specialization in Avionics stream; and three postgraduate programmes in Aeronautical, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and Avionics. Besides these programmes, specializations are offered to the PG students which can be completed within the same prescribed duration. The specialization options are meant to meet the challenges posed by the new aircraft and aerospace design which are highly dependent on unique capabilities with high performance; produce professional to play role of ensuring the quality and reliability of aircraft components using Non-Destructive Testing; and prepare engineers with design of UAV which is the wave of the future when it comes to aerial surveillance for both civil and military fields.

The unique “ALSIM Flight Simulators� available in house, provide an in-depth dimension to the flight mechanics and expose students to efficient use of flight envelopes and the complexity of aircraft stability and instrumentation. In addition, the students are given flying training at Orient Flight Academy.

The School of Aeronautical Sciences provides a very conducive learning environment for students with modern laboratory facilities and extensive use of IT infrastructure and well trained faculty members. The School houses the Centre of Excellence for TIFAC-CORE, Centre for Autonomous Systems and SIMCRASH under its flagship. Students get opportunities to participate in international competitions sponsored by NASA, Airbus, UVSI, SAE International etc., and get to design and develop

Students are tuned for a competitive career in several Aeronautical/Aerospace related industries such as HAL, NAL, ISRO, DRDO Laboratories, IAF, Airlines etc. Private organizations such as L&T, Infosys, TCS, Mahindra Satyam, HCL, Saffron, Taneja Aerospace Ltd, etc. also employ our graduates on a regular basis. Many students find employment with overseas establishments such as Boeing, Airbus, GE etc. on a regular basis. Students who wish to pursue higher degree after graduation either in Indian or Overseas Universities are well accepted with our degrees.

Laboratory Facilities The state of the art Wind Tunnel, Variable Pitch Propeller, Computer Controlled Fatigue Test Machine, Universal Testing Machine and various facilities are available to the students in Aerodynamics, Aerospace Propulsion, Structures, Aircraft Maintenance, Composite Materials, Avionics and Design laboratories. in Aerodynamics, Aerospace Propulsion, Structures, Aircraft Maintenance, Composite Materials, Avionics and Design laboratories.
