Auditoriums

▪ MGR Auditorium

The auditorium is named after the Tamil

Film celebrity and former Chief Minister of

Tamil Nadu, Dr. M. G. Ramachandran. With a seating capacity of 1000, the auditorium is the cultural hub and venue for various functions.

Andromeda Lecture Theatre

This ultra-modern air-conditioned theatre with 450 members seating capacity is awed for its design. The theatre has won Asia Design Excellence Awards for best “Architecture and Interior Design.”

Good Shepherd Hall

The hall is exquisitely built with ample seating capacity to accommodate inmates and guests. With central air-conditioned set up, the hall is equipped with latest LCD and high quality Projectors and acts as a venue for most of the top organized programmes and meetings.

KS Moorthy Hall

The hall is used for organizing events as well as acts as the learning set up for techaided classes. Alike other auditoriums and halls, this is air-conditioned too.

Arenas

Block, Parabola is a domical canopy and is used as a hub for various formal and informal gatherings.

Open Air Theatre

Located behind the Main Building, the Open Air Theatre is the venue for cultural events.

Freedom i-Zone

An artificially sketched arena meant for both literary and musical events.

Hangout

Hangout is a recreational facility and is used for the benefit of staff and students to rejuvenate their body and mind through indoor games.

Dr. K.C. G. Verghese Research and Resource Centre

Dr. K.C. G. Verghese Research and Resource Centre is the central library situated in the Founder’s Block with a total carpet area of 65,000 sq.ft. It is spread over three floors with excellent seating arrangements and has centralized airconditioned facility with a perfect eco-friendly environment. It is one of the best-equipped libraries with a huge collection of over 2,10,000 volumes of Books, 389 International/National Periodicals in print format, Back volumes and over 3500 CDs/DVDs. It also has more than 42,000 e-journals and 35,000 e-books with online databases viz. IEEE, EMERALD, SPINGER LINK, SCIENCE DIRECT, PROQUEST, EBSCO etc. HITS Library System consists of a Central Library and 17 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension program of the Institute. All students, faculty and employees of the institute are entitled to utilize the Library facilities. The Digital Library contains 60 Apple i-Mac systems and 10 i-pads, Laptops and Kindle with internet access.

Sports Facilities

A 15-acre well-maintained playground cater to the sports facilities and recreational requirements of the students and the staff. Many reputed tournaments are conducted in these courts.

Outdoor Games:

Cricket, Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Throwball, Athletics, Cycling, Karate, Yoga, Body & Mind Alignment, Horse Riding, Aerobics and Martial Arts.

Indoor Games:

Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Billiards, and Snooker.

Grass Root Football Field:

HITS, in association with Chennaiyin Football Club has set up a Grass Root Football Field in par with international standards within the campus. International coaches will train the soccer players of HITS, providing them a better opportunity to perform at the national and international tournaments.
