“Only a nation built on strong basic principles of economics will stand the test of time. It is for every one of us to think about where this country is headed and see what we can do individually and collectively to help India come out of the red. We are a billionstrong nation of talented and diligent people. We don’t really need to leave our home ground in search of greater pastures. It breaks my heart when I see brilliant and educated youngsters queuing up in front of the foreign embassies for visas. I wish I could tell them there are plenty of things they can do right here in India. Together we have to build a better nation.
I am reminded of the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”
This is what I have tried to do.
I wish I had the strength to do more.”
Dr. K. C. G. Verghese (1940-2006) Founder Chairman

Preamble
The Birth of an Institution
In the early days of 1965, Late Dr. K.C.G. Verghese took up teaching assignments in Automobile Engineering subjects. His well-acquainted subject knowledge and inquisitiveness to the know-hows of the Automotive industry worldwide drew in a large number of students. While coaching for British Automobile Examination then, Dr. K.C.G. Verghese realized that Indian students could easily clear them with minimum preparation. It was at this moment, students promised Dr. K.C.G. Verghese to bring over a hundred students from Sing pore and Malaysia if he were to set up an institution on his own. The idea dawned upon Dr. K.C.G. Verghese as he felt the time has come to start his own venture; and very soon, Hindustan Engineering Training Centre (HETC) was started in 1966 as an educational institution intended mainly for foreign students. This irresistible quest for knowledge eventually paved way for the commencement of other Institutions under the Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI).

PRO VICE CHANCELLOR D r. R. W. ALEXANDER JESUDASAN “
Having made laudable strides in diverse areas of academia for the past few decades, Hindustan Institute and Technology and Science (HITS) is moving towards gaining lofty recognitions both within and outside India.
While overall development in HITS has been taking place in the past year, it is worthwhile to mention the addition of new academic blocks which is nearing completion; the commencement of new programmes, viz., Pharmacy, Nursing in the next academic year and the conduct of HITSMUN (HITS Model United Nations).
The signing of MoUs with Corporate sectors and hospitals and the visit of Minister of State for Civil Aviation Captain (Retired) V.K. Singh to the campus this year are impressive moments.
Other noteworthy accomplishments in this year include HITS Women’s basketball team winning the bronze medal in Khelo India; successful organization of cultural events such as YARONA, presentation by Theatre Club, and the 4th Edition of Dr. K.C.G Excellence Award 2023, and all these achievements by HITS emphasizes the allround development of the institution.
Considering the unfathomable focus evinced by the Management on HITS, and the cumulative efforts of faculty, students, and other stakeholders, the institution is poised to receive greater recognitions in the days ahead.

FELICITATION

I extend a warm greeting to each one of the award winners and to those who have earned their Ph.Ds and master's degrees, graduating as the Class of 2023. My initial impression of this institution was surpassed by what I have witnessed during my short time here and has confirmed my positive assessment. The presence of numerous international and national patents attributed to this Institution speaks volumes about its excellence. Especially notable is the focus on unique subjects such as the aviation sector. I foresee a continued influx of students and suggest considering expansion to accommodate the growing demand. To the graduating students, I offer some advice and urge you to remember that your worth will be judged not merely by your credentials but by your actions, interactions, and contributions to your respective organizations. There are no shortcuts to success; it demands hard work, continuous learning, and openness to new experiences. Learn from your mistakes and keep an open mind, as closed-mindedness impedes growth. Maintain a positive outlook, as success often stems from positivity and perseverance. Embrace digital progress and be willing to experiment and innovate.
In times of adversity, I remember the poem that served as a prayer in the National Defence Academy, urging resilience and perseverance – “When faced with challenges, rest if needed, but never give up.”
General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.), Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, and also for Road Transport and Highways.

“ “
As I address you today, I reflect on the enduring partnership we have forged over the years. It has been a pleasure returning to this campus for the past five years, and I am truly grateful for the warm welcome each time. Congratulations to all the graduates – you have done exceptionally well. Now, it is time to celebrate! But beyond the festivities, I urge you to consider your life’s vision. If you have not found it yet, remember that receiving your degree from Hindustan University means you are now part of this family, sharing its vision of making every individual a success. Success isn’t just about individual achievement; it is about lifting each other up. Together, we can achieve more than we ever could alone. As we have seen in our fruitful collaboration between Trier University and Hindustan University, teamwork is key to success. So, let us embody this spirit and strive for excellence together. Now, with your Hindustan Degree, you are part of the most educated segment of society. But remember, education comes with responsibility. It is not always easy, but it is necessary. As educated individuals, we must advocate for change and address societal issues such as injustice, inequality, and aggression. We have a duty to use our knowledge and voice to
make a positive impact on the world. So, as you celebrate today, also accept this responsibility. It will only enhance your success. Congratulations, and may you all find fulfilment in your hard work.
Dr. Peter Koenig , Professor & Head, Institute for Automotive Technology, Trier University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
“

In graciously accepting the conferred doctorate, I extend my deepest gratitude while humbly acknowledging my limitations as a speaker. Inspired by a blend of English literature, epitomized by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and the wisdom passed down from local mentors, I emphasize the paramount importance of perpetual learning and unwavering humility in one’s journey. Reflecting on my own experiences, I underscore the transformative power of teamwork and the invaluable lessons gleaned from those alongside me, pivotal in efforts like the monumental transformation of the Indian railways.
To the students gathered here, I offer heartfelt words of encouragement, emphasizing the enduring significance of perseverance and resilience. While success is often measured by outcomes, I implore you to focus on giving your best, pouring forth your passion, commitment, and unwavering effort into every effort. Despite setbacks and failures along the way, remember that each stumble serves as a stepping stone toward eventual triumph.
As Lucio aptly stated in Measure for Measure, “Our doubts are traitors which make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.”
In closing, I express profound gratitude to Hindustan University for bestowing upon me this esteemed honour, recognizing the privilege it entails and the responsibility it bestows. Thank you for affording me this opportunity to stand before you today.
Dr. Sudhanshu Mani, Retd. General Manager, Integral Coach Factory (ICF) / Recipient of Honoris Causa during the 14th Convocation.

“
First of all, let me express my gratitude for having me with you today. An old Proverb says every step makes a footprint and so is it today in this occasion where representatives from government and academia are coming together to award outstanding research achievements. In a few moments. Indian universities and research institutions like The Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science or HITS have been the cornerstone of sustainable development, nurturing bright minds and shaping the leaders of tomorrow. I am glad to meet you all. I’m focusing on regional and urban development.
Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed how collaboration among public authorities, research, and businesses leads to sustainable urban solutions. Cities globally, especially during the COVID crisis, face structural challenges like public health, mobility, and housing shortages. Despite this, cities remain vital for economic growth and innovation. Adopting a digital approach, communities are implementing bold measures for sustainable urban development.
The peer-to-peer exchange on good and actually bad practices, as the minister just said, from which we can learn on can contribute to creating significant win-win solutions that can be sustained in the future. The main areas in which I have been able to witness significant achievements include green infrastructure, circular economy, sustainable transportation and mobility, smart city, and innovation ecosystems. Ladies and gentlemen, we all know at the beginning of every research endeavour, we stand alone with a challenge, a model to try to simplify the complexity of this challenge, and a hypothesis to test the answers we have developed to solve. It is in this process where researchers need peer-to-peer support and guidance from their research institutions. I’m truly impressed by the Hindustan Group’s dedication to fostering top researchers and scientific excellence. Receiving this award is an honour, and I’m fully committed to promoting international academic exchange, advancing disruptive innovation, and enhancing societal well-being. Every step we take leaves a footprint. Thank you all for your attention.
Dr. Pablo Gandara, Team Leader, International Urban Regional Cooperation (IURC) Project of Europe and Asia / Australasia / Recipient of Honoris Causa during the 14th Convocation.

“
Thank you for your kind invitation to attend the valedictory ceremony of the Hindustan University’s Model UN - HITSMUN.
Today I am reminded of Dr KCG Verghese, a passionate educationist and visionary who built this University from its foundation with diligence and hard work. His motto “to make every man a success and no man a failure” promised hope then as it does even today. It is heart-warming that his worthy successors have continued to provide the sustainable developmental goals to fulfil the Founder’s dreams and to take it even further.
As the theme of the MUN, diplomacy is defined as the art, the science and the means by which groups and individuals conduct their affairs in ways to safeguard their interest and to promote their cultural or scientific temper. When I see your young faces in front of me I realize that Education is the key to diplomacy in any field. Only when you learn, you understand and apply the principles required for life. Diplomacy in Education starts with you young people, here and now.
Take what you have learned here and disseminate all that you learned with your fellow students and families. Initiate the changes you were taught. Apply them in our communities, our homes and in the towns and villages we live in. If anyone can change the world, you can.
Congratulations to the Hindustan University for its vision in conducting this valedictory seminar and for practising the adage “It is never too early to catch them young and to teach them young” In conclusion I leave you with a quote from the Secretary General of the UN -Antonio Guterres during an interview : “We must come together and Act together for the common good”
Dr. N. M. Samuel, President of the AIDS Society of Asia and the Pacific and Founder of the Concern for AIDS Research and Education Trust

CENTRE FOR TRAINING & CAREER ADVANCEMENT

Ms. KAVITHA
VIJAYARAGHAVAN HEAD - PLACEMENT
“If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.”
- Napoleon Hill
In the rapidly changing business environment today, it has become perilous for organizations to continuously change and evolve for success. The Changing paradigms have made obligatory for an academic institution to foster a new breed of professionals – individuals equipped with the right kind of knowledge, technical skills, ability to think out of the box and innovation. The industry expectations have gone higher and only those who have the right attitude & skills to accept challenges endure and upsurge the performance ladder each day. The education system of the University provides the right training in perfect blend with the moral values to ensure that the students not only become successful professionals but also come out as exceptional human beings with rich values. The value-added programs offered at the University enhance the ‘employability' of the students and make them facilitators of transformation. It is for this reason that leading corporates consider HITS as a preferred recruitment partner. Training & Placement is a process that starts; the moment a student takes admission in a specific program and ends with the final placement and absorption of the student in a given company. The process doesn't end here. What also sets us apart is our ability to allow the students to explore a diverse set of functions, roles and career paths. The only objective of HITS has been creating knowledge, influencing management practices and global integration. The institute places special emphasis on inculcating corporate values and skills required for complex decision-making, besides developing superior expertise on functional domains and garnering business knowledge. At HITS, we nurture inquisitive, enterprising and probing outlook of students. The rich learning environment and the rigorous and comprehensive academic programs offered by Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science empower the students to become leaders in their respective fields.

At the Hindustan Institute of Science and Technology, we believe that education transcends the boundaries of textbooks and classrooms. It is about equipping our students with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to navigate and excel in an ever-evolving world.
