Golden Jubilee Valedictory Celebration

The Golden Jubilee Valedictory function of Hindustan Group of Institutions was celebrated on 16 March 2018 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai. Shri. M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon'ble Vice President of India; and Shri. Banwarilal Purohit, Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu presided over the function aptly commemorating the 5 decade legacy of the group in providing technical education.

9th ABBS - BRICS Students Meet Vahanaa 2018

The 9th Association of BRICS Business Schools (ABBS) International Students Meet was inaugurated on 1 February 2018 at HITS. His Excellency Sergey L Kotov, Consul General of Russia was the Chief Guest of the meet. Around 100 exuberant participants across the BRICS nations attended the event. Besides academic sessions, sporting events and competitions, the participants visited three industries and also had a cultural visit to Dakshin Chitra and Crocodile Bank.

The department of Automobile Engineering conducted Vahanaa’18, Auto Expo and Technical Symposium on 23 & 24 March 2018. Mr. M. V. Ramachandran, Head GARC (Global Automotive Research Centre) Ministry of Heavy Industries, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest; and Ms. Alisha Abdullah, India’s fastest woman racer was the Special Guest. The felicitation address was given by Mr. P. Eswaramurthy, Regional Manager, Volkswagen India. The symposium magazine “Spark” was released by the Special Invitee, Ms. Claudia Ann Malette, Director, International, College Boreal, Canada.

IEEE Chennai Hub Congress Kalai Koodam South Zone Youth Festival

IEEE Chennai Hub Congress 2017, an IEEE sponsored Madras Section was organized by IEEE Student Branch, HITS on 31 August and 1 September. The motive of the Congress was to equip students with an elaborate knowledge about the extant Cutting-Edge Technology and a collaboration with professionals.

Kalai Koodam – 2017 the 33rd Inter University South Zone Youth Festival was hosted by HITS with great pomp and gaiety on 18 December 2017. The campus was abuzz with enthusiastic youth and faculty from 31 Universities. The significance of the event was the arrival of over 1000 participants from across 5 Southern States.

Inauguration of Dr. KCG Verghese Higher Education, Leadership and Management (HELM) Center & 6th International Young Scholars Workshop.

The inauguration of the Dr. KCG Verghese HELM Centre and 6th International Young Scholars Workshop (IYSW) in collaboration with American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), USA was held between 12 and 14 July 2017. 50 young research scholars, 10 mentors and senior scholars from US and India participated. Ms. Janice Lachance, JD, President ASPA deliberated on ASPA and its objectives. Prof. Ved Prakash, Former Chairman, UGC, New Delhi emphasized the need for addressing the issues and challenges in Higher Education. An MoU was also signed with ASPA at the event.

4th Dr. K.C.G. Verghese Endowment Lecture

The 4th Dr. K.C.G. Verghese Endowment Lecture on “Building an International Business in Emerging Markets” was conducted by the Madras Management Association in collaboration with HITS on 18 November 2016. Mr. Ian Mercer, Head, International Operations, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK was the Chief Guest.

Nebula Astro Club

Mr. Mikhail Kornienko, Russian Cosmonaut and Flight Engineer of International Space Station inaugurated the Nebula Astro Club on 19 July 2017. He highlighted the Hyperloop project carried out in Los Angeles, C.A, USA and appreciated Hindustan Group of Institutions for its sponsor.

BOSCH Joint Training Centre

HITS-BOSCH Joint Training Centre was inaugurated on 25 October 2017. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Abhijit Kallianpur, Head, Regional Business Unit, Automotive Service, Bosch Limited, Bangalore; and Mr. J. Sundar, Head, Technical Support and Service, Bosch Limited, Bangalore was the Guest of Honour.

AYRTON Senna Motorsport Hub

Padma Shri. Narain Karthikeyan, India’s First International F1 Racer inaugurated Ayrton Senna Motorsport Hub on 7 October 2017. HITS is the first institution in India to offer Motor Sports in Engineering Programmes.

Stratasys F2703D Printer

Dr. T.S. Sridhar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary/ Commissioner of Revenue Administration and State Relief Commissioner (Retd.), Govt. of Tamil Nadu inaugurated Stratasys F2703D printer on 14 February 2019. The printer worth Rs. 38 lakhs was procured for the Centre for Simulation in Engineering and Design (SIMENDES) at Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Launch of Volkswagen-Ameo (Diesel) Vehicle

Mr. Ashok Verghese, Director, HITS launched the Volkswagen’s first diesel Ameo Sub-compact sedan version in Southern India on 21 October 2016. New models of Volkswagen cars like Beetle, Ameo, Polo, Vento were exhibited. VolkswagenAmeo Vehicle is the first car to be launched in an institution in India.

Indian Robot Premier League (IRPL)

Girl Power Summit

Girl Power Summit, an initiative from Entrepreneurs Council of India in association with HITS was conducted on 11 March 2018. Eminent women achievers from various sectors were invited for motivational talks and panel discussions.

ACM ICPC Asia Chennai Regional Contest

Around 1335 teams from 187 Colleges showed active participation in ACM ICPC on 19 December 2016. Prof. Janakiram, Professor Department of CSE, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras & ACM Chennai Chapter Chairman was the Chief Guest and Mr. Dorai Thodla, Founder, imorph Inc was the Guest of Honour. IRPL 2016 was conducted by RAIF in collaboration with HITS to develop students' creativity, design, team building and problem solving skills through challenging and entertaining Robot Football and win the IRPL 2016 Championship. Mr. Kris Kumar, Founder Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Foundation (RAIF), briefed the vision of the event. 14 teams comprising 72 students from various colleges, across the nation participated. Dr Andy Bell, Global Academic Programme Director, National Instruments, USA was the Chief Guest.

PALS Event

Partner Institution Alumni Leadership Series (PALS) event was conducted on 30 August 2017. Dr. T S Ravikumar, PALS Executive Committee Member addressed the audience on PALS and its activities. Mr. C. P. Madhusudhan, Director, Lucid Software delivered a lecture on ‘Analytics and State of Art in Non Destructive Testing’ at the event.

Alumni Meet, Dubai 2016

In commemoration of the Golden Jubilee Year of Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI), a GCC Alumni Re-union was organised by UAE Alumni Chapter in Dubai on 14 October 2016, at Hotel Holiday Inn, Bur Dubai. Around 150 Alumni attended the event with their families.
