Design and function
Lubrication oil system The engines are provided with a complete pressure lubrication system. The lube oil pump is an internal gear pump with built-in safety valve, and is driven directly from the crankshaft. The oil filter is a replaceable filter element located in a housing. A bypass valve is located in the housing cover, in case the filter is blocked.
The pressure lubrication system supplies units such as the turbocharger, fuel pump, vacuum pump and the hydraulic units in the valve system with lubrication. The lube oil is cooled by a plate heat exchanger beside the sump.
