Control Monitoring and Protection – PLC S7 400

The control system consists of a SIBAS 32S system in a four tier rack configuration as explained above and a SIMATIC S7- 400 PLC. Main functions for the SIBAS system are to provide firing pulses to the IGBTs and drive control, monitor and protect all inverters and AFEs in order to operate the drive motors. Diagnostic data can be recorded and analyzed through SIBAS built-in features. The Programmable Logic Control [PLC] system is the machine’s interface to the shovel (operator panel, Human Machine Interface [HMI], switches, lamps, sensor and other peripherals). The communication between the PLC and the SIBAS control allows access and control of drives and motors as well as protection functions. The PLC system in DCC consists of UR1 rack, power supply module, CPU 416, communication processor CP443, digital I/O modules and analog I/O modules. All these modules are plugged in the UR1 rack. It also consists of CAN/DP coupler to get data from SIBAS system.
