Product Description

Control Monitoring and Protection – SIBAS 32S

The SIBAS 32 system (SIemens Bahn Automation System with 32 bit microprocessor) is used for modulating and logic control functions in mass transit rolling stock (i.e. trams, underground railways, city and suburban railways and trolley), as well as in long-distance vehicles (i.e. electric locomotives, railway traction trains and diesel-electric locomotives) and in mining converters. The system controls, monitors and protects the vehicle drive in the area of the converter equipment. It also performs the information processing in a control level thus embracing the whole vehicle as the control unit. In addition to these functions, systems for vehicle diagnostics and systems which provide assistance for commissioning and maintenance are integrated. The system is based on modular design. The functions are divided into functional modules and implemented on single size and double size Euro-format of PCBs, for example, Central Processing Unit, communication interfaces, interface modules and input/output stages. Due to its steady development, a broad spectrum of module types is available for all aspects of vehicle control. The system embodies the following basic features: • Application as drive control unit for DCC. • Modular design of functional modules in single-size and double-size Euro-format PCBs. • RFI shielding and mechanically robust design of the Siemens ES902 packaging system in accordance with international standards. • Integrated diagnostics to support commissioning, service and troubleshooting. Storage of traction- and vehicle states under error conditions. • Readout of the memory and use of the service utility software via the diagnostic interfaces on any commercially available PC. • Use of high-density integrated circuits such as high-performance microprocessors (32 bit), signal processors and various types of programmable integrated circuits. The following block diagrams (Fig.3-18) of a drive control unit (DCU) show a selection of the most important modules as well as coupling to a service unit (i.e. PC/ Laptop), and the train and vehicle wiring via bus systems or single wiring. In shovel machine, PLC is the master controller and SIBAS is a drive controller. PLC controls & monitors overall machine & give commands to SIBAS. Inside SIBAS, ZR (central processor unit) is the main controller which gives commands to individual SIPs (Signal processor) which controls the drive. Hence in architecture, ZR is in between PLC and SIPs. Software in PLC, ZR & SIPs are different. ZR and PLC communicate with each other on CAN & Profibus using CAN-DP coupler which couples CAN of ZR to Profibus of PLC. Internally ZR communicates with SIPs on CAN bus.
