India threatened to shut Twitter, says ex-CEO; Govt says ‘outright lie’

Twitter’s co-founder and former boss Jack Dorsey has reiterated that the platform received “many requests” from the Indian government to block accounts covering farmers’ protests and those critical of the govt. He has also said that the platform was threatened with “a shut down” and conducting raids at its employees’ homes in the country.

Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar responded to Dorsey’s claims, saying that under him, Twitter was in “repeated and continuous violations of India law” and at times “weaponised misinformation”.

“It manifested in ways that ... [they said] we will raid the homes of their employees, which they did; we will shut down your offices if you don’t follow suit,” he said.

What was said, is a blatant lie. Jack Dorsey woke up after years of sleep and wants to cover up his misdeeds. Several foreign forces and their agents in India wake up when elections approach India. They were exposed earlier and will be exposed this time as well.

No one from Twitter was raided or sent to jail, nor was the site shut down in the country. Any action taken against Twitter and its executives was because the platform had been in violation of government regulations.

Will Team India learn its lessons after pathetic loss at WTC final?

Robin Roy

MISTAKES TEAM INDIA DID WHICH PROVED TO BE COSTLY...

Team India did not cross the 300-run mark even once in the WTC final match India dropped Ashwin and opted for Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur who were not in the best of forms

Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Cheteswar Pujara failed badly and hence India was denied a good start

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane played poor shots and got out. It was the call of the hour especially for Virat to score big

TWEETS

On Sunday when Team India were reduced to “Ashes” (pun intended) it was a major heartbreak for millions of cricket fans who vouch for Team India across the world and especially those who had rallied behind the team and had (over)crowded the Oval to boost the morale of our boys.

Despite all the hype and hoopla over HIT MAN and company, we all saw how the cookie crumbled. India was lucky to get the advantage of winning the toss but many feel its decision and action thereafter was not right considering the Oval’s fresh pitch, which needless to say offered a significant amount of seam. But the rest was there for everyone to see.

Despite a “strong” team on paper, Indian bowlers couldn’t capitalise on the helpful conditions. It was noticeably witnessed that most bowlers kept the ball on the shorter side for most part of the game. This allowed Australian batters a field day to punish India seam attack.

This pathetic defeat of Team India must open up several discussions and the main and foremost being the mindset of the Indian Think Tank of not being able to see beyond the paper tigers. The benefit of the team has to gain prominence and not individual stardom.

Look at what our world famous batters did at the world stage. India’s batting was more

miserable than their bowling. Despite being labelled as the Hit man and company, they failed to breach even the 300run mark on both occasions!

Also it seemed that skipper Rohit Sharma was hesitant to implement body-line bowling against Head as soon as he entered centrestage. The lack of planning from the Indian captain proved costly for Team India as Head smashed a scintillating winning knock of 163 off just 174 deliveries that too in a Test Match at this stage.

Also, India looked almost completely clueless with their planning when Travis Head and Steve Smith took the Oz total to a huge score.

Team India also looked thoroughly underprepared for the World Test Championship. The

Unprecedented progress in health services in the Northeast! The phenomenal growth in infrastructure shows how the North Eastern region is a priority for development for the central government.

Narendra Singh Tomar @nstomar

WILL INDIA LOOK BEYOND NOW?

Isn’t it high time that the Think Tank did some course correction? When will the aging war horses give way to the new and fresh players like Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sarfaraz Khan. When it the likes of Rinku Singh and Jasvi Jaiswal be given the chance. With the World Cup coming up later this year, BCCI must huddle and bring out the best with whatever time is left or else there’s no point lamenting later.

team got a reprieve of only nine-days after the entertaining Indian Premier League 2023 ended. Team India reached England in batches to join the preparation camp and thus got hardly any time to get ready.

In an ideal situation, the players should have played a warm-up match to get acclimated to the English conditions but the schedule was extremely tight. However, in a post-match statement, head coach Rahul Dravid lamented the fact that Team India didn’t get enough time to prepare for the WTC Final.

“I’m never going to be happy with the preparations as a coach. But that’s the reality I’m ready to accept, and we all have to accept. The schedules are so cramped and tight.

These guys know… if you’re playing international cricket, and if you’re here 3 weeks before the tour, playing two sidegames, you are going to be better prepared,” Dravid had told Star Sports.

FAULTY TEAM SELECTION!

Post-WTC the hottest topic for discussion was the non-selection of Ravichandran Ashwin.

Indian Think Tank made a massive blunder to exclude the world’s number one Test bowler and second-ranked all-rounder from the playing XI. Though Ashwin can take wickets in every condition, Team Indian went in with an extra seamer at the expense of Ashwin. Ashwin is also a star with the willow. He has five centuries.

Time and again we have seen

North East, the land of vibrant people and diverse cultures with a high talent pool is being provided with better connectivity, education, & employment opportunities.

#9YearsOfNorthEastProsperity.

Anurag Thakur @ianuragthakur

how Team India literally choked whenever it was subjected to mega knockout matches. Be it the 2021 T20 World Cup when the Virat Kohli-led India team was thrashed by Pakistan or when the Rohit Sharma-led India surrendered to England in the T20 World Cup semi-final in Adelaide in November 2022. Whenever it was required, Indian batting sensations crumbled like cookies and the script during the WTC final against Australia was the same. Also Rishabh Pant was badly missed. For Ashwin even after claiming 474 Test wickets only entitles him to carry the drinks to the field, Ashwin might do some hard thinking about his future. SAD!!!

Tikait said after fresh talks with the district administration in the evening, the farmers have ended the protest in Kurukshetra’s Pipli and the national highway blockade will be lifted.

Kurukshetra DC Shantanu Sharma said that farmers have been assured of “appropriate price” for sunflower crop.

The national highway in Pipli had remained blocked for the second day Tuesday over the farmers’ demand for MSP for sunflower seeds.

On Monday and dur-

ing the day on Tuesday, there had not been any headway in talks between the farmers and district administration, but the breakthrough finally came in the evening. He had earlier asked the state government to accept the demand or send farmers to jail.

The protesting farmers had blocked the National Highway-44 near Pipli, which connects Delhi with Chandigarh, and some other routes since Monday afternoon after holding a mahapanchayat on the issue.

The farmers had been demanding that the state government procure sunflower seeds at an MSP of Rs 6,400 per quintal.

Under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana — price difference payment scheme — the state government was giving Rs 1,000 per quintal as interim support for sunflower crop sold below MSP.

With RBI Governor’s ‘warning’, will AU finally ‘handle’

RBI Guv holds meeting with AU board members, stresses it knows evergreening of NPAs RBI order of ‘action’, if rules are flouted, stares AU!

First India Bureau Jaipur

ou must have seen and heard many scams of many banks, but today we are introducing you to some ‘acts’ of AU Bank which is worrying about the security of your money deposited in AU Bank.

z What was the whole matter?

In the previous news, First India raised questions

on AU Small Finance Bank keeping its NPA stable at 2% for last 5 years. Its financial products are being sold to customers in rural areas or to those with poor civil score or low income group and builders with high risk profile, whose money can sink anytime and NPA can rise anytime. But despite this, the company has stabilized its NPA at 2% which is a matter of investigation.

AU Small Finance Bank

was given the status of Scheduled Small Finance

Bank by RBI in 2017. The ‘main-men’ behind AU Bank are Sanjay Agarwal and Uttam Tibrewal who started this bank and now AU Bank has opened more than 900 branches across the country. Meanwhile, there were allegations on AU Bank of showing less NPA. SEBI also approved the IPO brought by AU Small Finance Bank and it was listed in the stock market. If we study the gross NPA figures of AU Bank for the last five years, then the gross NPA percentage of the company in the financial years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2021-22 has been 2%. While due to Corona it has been told 4.3%

in the financial year 202021 and 1.7% in the financial year 2019-20. In such a situation, if indeed this NPA is being kept limited to 2% through their ability and management skills by the ‘kartadharta’ of AU, who made it a bank from a finance company, then this is an shining example of excellent management! But the truth is probably something else. In this case, on the condition of anonymity, a high-level official of the bank disclosed that the bank hid its actual NPA by going against the rules of RBI. In the news published earlier in First India, the entire matter was dis-

closed in detail.

Taking cognizance of this whole matter, RBI has issued orders for inquiry and said that suitable action will be taken against AU Small Finance Bank if it is found violating the existing guidelines. Last month, for the first time, the RBI governor had a meeting with the board members of the banks, in which he clearly said that RBI is aware of all the gimmicks that banks uses to hide its bad loans and show profits. It was ac-

cepted by RBI Governor Shashikant Das in the meeting that many banks are hiding their actual NPAs by evergreening loans to hide the status of stressed loans.

By now you must have understood the whole story. But now let us introduce you to that thing, through which the black game of hiding NPA is played by banks. What is the evergreening of loan?

Loans that are about to go into the NPA category, the bank gives more loans to the company before default, and then with this additional loan, the company pays its outstanding instalments. In this the cy-

Goswami, Jagjit Monga, Ramniwas Mehta, Arun Garg, Rajendra Verma, Alpa Chowdhary, Sanchita Vishnoi, Harsh Sawan Sukha, Ashutosh Gupta, Babulal Goyal, Balmukund Asawa, Narayan Singh, Kishore Kumar, Hanumanmal Dhaka, Bachanesh Agarwal & Vasudev Malavat. Along with this, the screening panel headed by Veenu Gupta has decided 20 names for selection via promotion in IAS from other services.

its NPAs?

cle of loans goes on and that loan does not come under the category of NPA. Lender’s loan is adjusted internally or through office accounts.

There have been many such cases besides evergreening, in which some banks have adopted different tactics to hide their NPAs, like banks buying each other’s bad loans, issuance of debt instruments for debt management. To ensure that NPA pressure is less, structured deals are done with bad borrowers from good borrowers, funding debtors’ liabilities using internal or office accounts and hiding NPA by giving loan directly or to

any subsidiary before due payment to settle old loans, are some of the old ploys.

Let us tell you that through a special circular, the money of various government schemes deposited in government banks was transferred from government banks and deposited in AU bank. In such a situation, if RBI takes some action against AU bank, then what will be the future of that govt money?

It remains to be seen whether RBI is able to reveal in its investigation the various tactics being adopted by AU Bank to stabilize its NPA after the RBI Governor’s admission.
