Ever since the nomination process started on June 9, several incidents of violence have been reported from across West Bengal.

On Tuesday, clash between ISF and TMC workers broke out at the mela ground in front of the BDO office of Block 2, Bhangar. There was police presence at the BDO office, and police officers were among those injured. Police resorted to lobbing teargas shells and lathicharge in efforts to bring the situation under control, officers said.

Prime Minister distributes about 70,000 appointment letters to new appointees

PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday targeted parties opposed to BJP including the Congress, TMC and RJD and said there are dynastic parties that indulge “in nepotism and corruption” while the BJP-led government works to safeguard the future of the youth.

Addressing the National Rozgar Mela via video conferencing in which he distributed about 70,000 appointment letters to new appointees in various government departments and organizations, PM Modi said the entire world is eager to partner with India in its growth journey today.

In his speech, the Prime Minister talked about the ills of “dynasty politics and nepotism in the recruitment process”

Rahul Gandhi takes another truck ride, this time in the US

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently travelled from Washington to New York in a truck and engaged in a candid conversation with the driver that centred around the everyday lives of Indian-origin truck drivers in the US. Gandhi’s journey in the truck during his recent visit to the United States came days after he took a truck ride from Delhi to Chandigarh to listen to the problems of truck drivers.

Gandhi noted that the trucks in US are designed keeping in mind the safety and comfort of the driver, which is not the case in India.

Continuing his journey to listen to people in India as well as overseas, the Congress leader went on a 190km “American Truck Yatra” from Washington DC to New York with driver Taljinder Singh Vicky Gill and his companion Ranjeet Singh Banipal, a journey that ended with a scrumptious breakfast at an eatery, according to a release issued by the party.
