The Revolutionary Idea of the Cow Hostel

“What is the Gujarat Model?” I once asked Modi saheb. “Come, visit Gujarat and see for yourself!” was his response. He invited me to see all the works that had been done there while he was the CM. The first place I visited was a tribal area and I came to know of an innovative initiative taken by Modiji saheb - the Cow Hostel. He had established this cow hostel in Akodara village of Sabarkantha district and this was India’s first animal hostel. Not many people understood the concept of cow hostel when it was proposed. Modi saheb’s proposed plan was to get a huge hall built that would cater for the entire tribal area. Further, all tribals would be asked to take their cows to that hall in the evening and tie them there for the night. Early morning the next day, the cows would be milked there itself. The milkman would then come to the hostel to collect milk for customers and cow dung too would be collected and sold. The veterinary doctors, who would otherwise visit households individually, would now reach the hostel and look after all the needs of the cows. Thus, the everyday needs of the cows, including the feed given to them every morning and evening, their treatment and hygiene, everything would be taken care of under one shelter. This indeed is a unique model of development introduced by Modiji in Gujarat.

Mission Climate Change

Modiji’s work as Gujarat CM was happening with full gusto. Do you know in which state was the Department of Climate Change first established? It was Gujarat. Modiji used to participate in various programs hosted by an organization called Climate Group in London of which I was one of the board members. I am talking about a time when even the Ministry of Environment was not associated with anything that had to do with Climate Change.

The narrators share with us the bold, revolutionary and ahead of times decisions that Modiji has taken for the betterment, safety and security of our nation. These stories give us an insight into the inspiring leadership of PM Modi that makes his government so strong, cohesive and successful.

The country was in lockdown, the world was in the grip of a deadly pandemic, and there was panic all around!

Our country had never manufactured a PPE suit when COVID 19 hit us. It was the month of March when lockdown was announced and at that time, India used to import only about 50-55 thousand PPE suits annually. We had an analysis from a study that told us that these 50 to 55 thousand imported PPE suits would be used up completely in a month’s time. We would not have any PPE suits after that. We have always had firm guidelines from PM Modi on how he wants us to run the government and that is to run it in a “synergistic, coordinated way.” I remember how the External Affairs Ministry, Ministry of Railways, Urban Development Ministry, Rural Development Ministry and of course, Health Ministrythese five to six ministries got together in

PPE Importer to Second Largest Exporter

mission mode. We discussed across the table that if we need cloth, where do we get it from? If we need machines, where

do we get them from? We requested Aviation Minister Mr Hardeep Puri to fly a plane to Japan to get us 30 machines and he did that. So, what we witnessed first hand at that time was how a government comes together in a critical situation. It was a truly remarkable experience under the leadership of PM Modi. He had directed us to work towards Atmanirbharta. He said “India has to be self-reliant in the manufacturing of PPE suits as international borders are being sealed.” And I am very proud to say that India that did not have a single company manufacturing PPE suits when lockdown began, in three months it had 1,100 companies with a billion dollar turnover. We created 5 lakh jobs in lockdown and India became the second largest exporter of PPE suits. This happened just because the Prime Minister drew conditions for Make In India for PPE suits.

It was in one of these programs that Modiji mentioned to me “The kind of energy import dependence we have is not sustainable. We need to focus on solar power if we wish to become Atmanirbhar in the energy sector.” Well, no one would talk about solar in those days. He suggested that in order to harvest solar energy, we must create a Global Solar Alliance which he created after becoming the PM. For this he even wrote a letter to the then Prime Minister but it did not work out. I was the Chairman of the Council of Energy, Environment and Water and in my capacity, we tried to spread his ideas on solar power on a large scale. Soon after he became the Prime Minister, Modiji implemented these programs. Today, a country such as the United States is also part of the Solar Alliance which is headquartered in our country. All this is possible only because of Modiji’s vision and values. His endeavour in this direction is going to benefit environment, the issues of climate change and energy security.

promising national interests for votes and lauded PM Modi for changing the political culture from “vote bank to report card”.

Lashing out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he said the person whose grandmother, Indira Gandhi, had imposed Emergency in the country & muzzled democratic voices is talking about threats to democracy during his foreign visits and meeting people who are opposed to India.

After all, who will be the face of BJP from Ghazipur? Ghazipur of UP is considered a hot seat and Manoj Sinha was the BJP candidate from this seat in 2019. But Sinha was defeated by over 1 lakh votes. Although Sinha is now Governor of J&K. So, whom will the BJP field this time? Sinha’s son Anubhav or daughter-in-law Deepali could be candidates. These days both are spending most of their time in Ghazipur. But reportedly, Yogi is not in favor of either of these 2 ticket because Yadav and Rajput vote banks have more influence on this seat.

What is interesting here is the fact that when after the completion of his deputation period, pant returned to Jaipur in January 2020, he was called back in March 2020 as the entire nation was under the Covid wave and the Health Ministry had several major responsibilities. In such a situation, the central government remembered Sudhansh Pant’s services and expe-

Sudhansh Pant

rience in the department. Although he was called for a period of two months on temporary basis, but he was not released for nine months!

It was a moment of pride for the Rajasthan

cadre when during a ‘national calamity,’ a bureaucrat from the State cadre was of immense use in the Centre. In fact, the Centre wanted to promote Pant to the post of Additional Secretary and keep him there, but the Rajasthan government called him back in January 2021. But in October 2022, Pant returned to New Delhi and he was appointed as Secretary, Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Now after eight months, he has been appointed as Secretary of

Health Department regarding which Pant has immense experience. And thus, it is believed that he will handle the reins of the Department with immense finesse!

Notably, Pant will take charge of the post of Secretary in Ministry of Health after July 31. At present, IAS Rajesh Bhushan of Bihar cadre is serving on this post and Pant will take charge after his retirement on July 31. Currently Pant is posted as OSD in Central Health Department.

In the realm of beauty and fashion, few things possess the captivating power and timeless allure quite like red lipstick. Its rich and vibrant hue has adorned the lips of countless women throughout history, leaving an indelible mark on the world of glamour and style. The significance of red lipstick extends far beyond its mere cosmetic function, representing empowerment, confidence, and a celebration of femininity.

Red lipstick holds a unique place in our collective cultural consciousness. From the iconic red lips of Hollywood starlets to the rebellious and fiery pouts of punk rockers, it has always been a symbol of boldness and self-expression. With just a single swipe, red lipstick can transform an ordinary look into a statement of confidence, seduction, and power. It has the ability to instantly boost one’s selfesteem, commanding attention and conveying a sense

Historically, red lipstick has been a symbol of libera-

tion and defiance. In ancient Egypt, both men and women used red pigments to paint their lips, associating the color with divine beauty and fertility. In more recent history, red lipstick gained popularity during the suffragette movement, as women used it as a visual representation of their fight for equal rights. By embracing red lips, they defied societal expectations and asserted their agency, demanding to be seen and heard.

Beyond its symbolic significance, red lipstick possesses the transformative ability to enhance one’s natural beauty and create a signature look. It has the power to brighten the face, add a touch of glamour, and elevate any ensemble. Whether

worn with a classic little black dress or a casual jeansand-t-shirt combination, red lipstick has the uncanny ability to elevate the overall aesthetic, adding an element of sophistication and elegance. Moreover, red lipstick transcends age, skin tone, and cultural boundaries. It has the remarkable ability to unite women from all walks of life. The universality of red lipstick lies in its versatility and adaptability to different styles and occasions. Whether it’s a matte red for a professional setting, a glossy red for a romantic evening, or a vibrant red for a night on the town, there is a shade of red lipstick for every woman, regardless of her personal style or cultural background. In a world that often pressures women to conform to certain beauty standards, red lipstick provides a sense of liberation and self-expression. It encourages women to embrace their individuality and celebrate their unique features. Red lipstick allows women to channel their inner confidence. It serves as a reminder that beauty knows no boundaries and that every woman has the right to feel empowered and beautiful in her own skin.
