A one-off base cost of a virtual fitting room with a sizing technology widget would be around £150,00 for a large retailer like ASOS in 2017, with the figure growing year on year. This figure was stated by an ecommerce expert to Drapers.
Digital clothing range
To run the digital clothing range concept successfully, ASOS would have to pay for the wages of the CGI artists and 3D designers working behind dressing customers digitally as well as designing each garment. Because customers are going to pay for each digital piece, ASOS would be making a profit to go towards the designing of the range.
The Festival
Tomorrowland’s Virtual Festival which sold just under 140,000 tickets, cost about $10 million to produce with additional financial support from partners and sponsorships. The overall ticket sales totaled to $1.5 million. With similar VR technology used for Tomorrowland’s festival, the ASOS virtual festival cost could total up to a similar amount.
