Late Thursday afternoon at approximately 5:30 pm, Howe Police responded to a report of a tractor that had rolled over in front of Southwest Auction on southbound US 75. When Howe Police Sergeant Michael Hill arrived on scene, he located the male, 16-year old-driver from Gunter, who told him that he was unfamiliar with the controls of the tractor, and the he had tried to take the turn from the driveway to the service road too fast. The tractor then hit the grass median and rolled several times. Adams Automotive was called to the scene to upright the tractor. Once the John Deere was back on all four wheels, employees from Southwest Auction were able to get the vehicle started and driven back onto the property. The tractor suffered severe damage. The driver was checked out by Van Alstyne EMS, no injuries were reported at this time, and the driver was released to a parent. As of now the crash is not under investigation by the Howe Police Department. Jan 22 - at approximately 7 pm Sergeant Hill stopped a car on US 75 for a traffic violation. The 19-year-old female driver did not have a drivers license, so Sgt Hill spoke with the 18year-old male passenger (from Cedar Hill, TX) to see if he had one. The man began digging in a backpack to get his license, while trying to keep Sgt Hill from seeing what was inside. However, Sgt Hill saw what he believed was a package of vacuum sealed marijuana inside the backpack. A search revealed over a 1/4 pound of marijuana. The man was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 4 ounces.
