In the January Howe ISD Board of Trustees meeting, the board voted to extend the contract of Wilson for another year That would give Wilson a ten-year reign as the leader of Howe ISD which would be the longest tenure of any Howe ISD superintendent since Charles R Thompson served in that same capacity for 23 years from 19491972.

Wilson was a principal during the fiscal rough times of the district in the 2002-2003 school year. In an August interview, he said, "It was a challenge It caught a lot of people off- guard, but we banded together Everybody hunkered down and we weathered the storm."

Wilson, since being superintendent says that he's most proud that Howe ISD has maintained their fiscal stability throughout the legislative budget cuts in 2011 and been able to maintain competitive salaries with area school districts our size

"The community's support of our tax ratification election in 2012 allowed us to do that " said Wilson

Howe's graduation rate, college readiness, and number of students continuing their education is consistently among the top school districts in the area

Wilson also says that he's seen a difference in community pride because of upgrades of facilities "The improvements that we have made to our athletic facilities have been positively received and provide our students and community a renewed source of pride. And we were able to do all of this without a bond." said Wilson.
