Late Thursday afternoon at approximately 5:30 pm, Howe Police responded to a report of a tractor that had rolled over in front of Southwest Auction on southbound US 75

When Howe Police Sergeant Michael Hill arrived on scene, he located the male, 16-year old-driver from Gunter, who told him that he was unfamiliar with the controls of the tractor, and the he had tried to take the turn from the driveway to the service road too fast The tractor then hit the grass median and rolled several times

Adams Automotive was called to the scene to upright the tractor Once the John Deere was back on all four wheels, employees from Southwest Auction were able to get the vehicle started and driven back onto the property The tractor suffered severe damage The driver was checked out by Van Alstyne EMS, no injuries were reported at this time, and the driver was released to a parent As of now the crash is not under investigation by the Howe Police Department

The man began digging in a backpack to get his license, while trying to keep Sgt Hill from seeing what was inside However, Sgt Hill saw what he believed was a package of vacuum sealed marijuana inside the backpack A search revealed over a 1/4 pound of marijuana The man was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 4 ounces

Teacher at Tyson

Continued from Page #9

A number of teachers graduate from college and go straight to their teaching profession and have little to no hands-on knowledge of how the industry operation works With Grayson County known for the vast number of industries since the 1960's, it is an opportunity for these teachers to grasp what some of their students are going to be asked to do after they leave their classroom.

Hayward, a 2005 Pottsboro High School graduate, who later graduated from Oklahoma State University, worked at a Human Resource company before deciding on the teaching profession. So she had a little bit of experience in the workforce before the program she went through

"I would recommend it to another teacher" said Hayward "I never would have pictured myself at Tyson, but most people think of everyone being on the line cutting meat, but there are so many other jobs in that one building I think they have 1,200 employees I was really surprised "

Hayward went on to say that an employee who gets their foot in the door is part of the challenge, but hard work is rewarded and if a person is a hard-worker and shows up on time, they can move up quickly through the ranks to supervisor.

"These are things I talk to kids about." said Hayward "You may never have to know how cells divide for the rest of your life, but learning about the process of being disciplined and teaching yourself how to study and showing up on time, working with others and doing the things you're supposed to do "

Not everyone leaves Howe High School and finishes college DDA, Workforce Texoma, and local schools are preparing Grayson County's students for a successful opportunity after high school
