Operation____________________________________________________ CRAWLER LIFT JACKS purpose The crawler lift jacks provide a means of vertically lifting the BTP while still keeping the crawlers on the ground to make tramming possible. This provides the BTP with more ground clearance and allows it to negotiate rough terrain. The lift jacks can also raise the BTP frame completely off of the mine floor for maintenance purposes.
construction The lift jacks are housed within the crawler frame which are made from welded structural grade steel with high strength heat-treated pinned joints operated by two independently functioning trunion mounted hydraulic cylinders.
maintenance Visually inspect all joints to ensure that pins are properly in place by
Certain designs may provide grease fittings within the head of each pin. These fittings should be greased monthly. IMPORTANT
operation Visually check to make sure there are no obstructions or personnel within the operation range of the lift jacks. Before lifting the BTP, check the location of the stageloader with respect to the ceiling of the entryway to ensure that it has not come into contact with the roof. Providing that the controls are operational (see “Control Station” section), select one or more of the four directional control flippers or levers labeled “Inbye-Walkside”, “Inbye-Blockside”, “OutbyeWalkside”, or “Outbye-Blockside” under the section labeled “Lift Jacks”. Then press the desired direction of operation, “UP” to raise the BTP (lowering the crawlers) and “DOWN” to lower the BTP (raising the crawlers). During operation take care not to jack the BTP and stageloader into the roof or similarly lower the BTP frame onto equipment or any obstruction that may damage the unit. Continue to operate the control valves until the desired BTP position is achieved.
DANGER
Do not repair or remove retaining pins, hoses or hydraulic cylinders while the lift jacks are supporting the BTP or while they are in operation.
Keep hands and feet from under the crawlers during operation. IMPORTANT
