pilot operated emergency shut-off valve 5

Operation____________________________________________________

PILOT OPERATED EMERGENCY SHUT-OFF VALVE

purpose

The emergency shut-off valve arrangement is used to completely stop the flow of fluid to the tailpiece controls thus preventing the controls from being accidentally energized while the BTP sits idle. The emergency shut-off valve arrangement also acts as a quick shut off switch during emergency situations.

The emergency shut-off valve components have a high strength cast steel body with machined steel internal parts. The inlet and outlet ports on the check valve are 1” SAE female and the pilot control ports are ¼” SAE female. The sub-plate for the directional control valve has 3/8” SAE female ports. The entire unit is designed to operate at 225bar and 150 l/m.

Each shift visually ensures that the hydraulic components and hoses are not leaking or damaged. Replace or repair any missing or damaged components as required.

The emergency shut-off valve arrangement is operated when the emergency shut off panic bar (dead man control) is either lifted up or pushed down. The downward position of the panic bar operates the control valve which allows pilot pressure to open the check valve and let fluid flow to the control valve banks so that they may be operated. The upward most position stops the pilot flow and closes the check valve preventing the flow of fluid to the valve banks ceasing operation.

Use caution while operating or maintaining the diversion valve since the system is under extreme pressure.

Do not perform work on or attempt to disconnect any of the hydraulic hoses while pressurized.

To avoid contaminating the interior areas of the diversion valve, it is not recommended to perform any type of extensive repair work while underground.
