___________________________________________________Operation FIXED OVER PRESSURE RELIEF
purpose The fixed over pressure relief valve provides an effective way to safeguard the entire hydraulic system against pressure surges. The relief pressure is set about 5% (240bar for most systems) above the maximum tailpiece operating pressure that is specified in the “Belt Tailpiece System Statistics” section, yet below the maximum operating pressure for the weakest component in the system.
construction The fixed over pressure relief valve is constructed from a high strength steel block that has a fixed pressure relief cartridge threaded into it. The inlet and relief ports are both ½” female staple lock. The entire unit is designed to operate at 345bar and 150 l/m.
maintenance Each shift visually ensure that the hydraulic components and hoses are © DBT AUSTRALIA 2007
not leaking or damaged. Replace or repair any missing or damaged components as required.
operation Self-operating.
C Use caution while operating or maintaining the over pressure relief valve since the system is under extreme pressure. CAUTION
DANGER
C CAUTION
Do not perform work on or attempt to disconnect any of the hydraulic hoses while pressurized. To avoid contaminating the interior areas of the relief valve, it is not recommended to perform any type of extensive repair work while underground. Make sure that the valve cartridge is securely tightened before applying pressure. Do not by-pass or remove the over pressure relief valve from the hydraulic circuit without DBT America’s permission.
