56 MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS The intervals specified here refer to normal operating conditions. During the initial break-in period and under particularly severe working conditions, different servicing intervals may be required. This chapter is particularly useful, in explaining the various operations to be performed at the same time. None of the normal maintenance operations require the tool to be raised. To get to the engine for maintenance operations, open the side panels by pushing the button shown after unlocking with the key.
WARNING If, for any reason, maintenance and/or repairs are done while attachment is raised, make certain it is supported and locked in safety position.
Drain the oil immediately after shutting off the engine so the oil is warm and flows more easily. This will also aid the discharge of impurities. Before and after any lubrication wipe clean all fittings, lids and plugs to prevent impurities from entering the system and dirt accumulation in lubricant residues. Lubrication is an essential part of maintenance and safeguards the durability of the engine. Different lubricants are needed and some parts of the engine require more lubrication than others. It is therefore important to strictly follow the instructions given for lubrication and servicing intervals. Regular and periodic lubrication of the movable parts diminishes the probabilities of inconveniences and mechanical breakdowns.

To reach the steering clutches and brakes (manual disengagement), remove the rear cover after removing the screws, as indicated.
