WOMEN IN CIVIL
COMMITTEE UPDATE
YOUR WOMEN IN CIVIL COMMITTEE – WHAT AND WHY! The year 2021 was another year of changes and curve balls, but resoundingly, the stories of resilience and success were witnessed across the Civil industry. As a committee, we, along with many of our members, went through times of change and have been trying to create new ways of working to get the job done. We have our members at the forefront of what we wanted to achieve and with that in mind, we refocused our committee and set ourselves up from what is already turning out to be a big year in 2022. So, we want to take this opportunity to share with you what we do, why we do it, and the different ways that you can get involved.
WHO ARE WE? The committee is made up of a group of volunteers from the CCF SA member base. We come from all walks of the civil industry from Engineers to Procurement, Surveying and Business Managers. The one thing we all have in common is a passion to create opportunities for females in our industry. As a team, we bring together different skill sets whether that’s through our day jobs or we have a skill or desire to add benefit in other ways through committing our time. It’s a great opportunity to share our experiences and grow our network.
WHY DO WE EXIST? The committee is to have a positive and aspirational focus on women in the civil construction industry, embodied by celebrating women in the industry, from workers on the ground to leadership and management. We want to celebrate their achievements and contributions to the industry, and also to encourage other women to join the industry. Activities designed to meet their obligations include support, mentoring, information and networking opportunities for women working across the civil construction industry. ISSUE 1 – 2022
