LPG & Bottled Gas LPG, oxygen and acetylene are frequently used on construction sites. You MUST always: Observe NO SMOKING signs. All bottled gases will cause fires or explosions if misused. Always be aware that:
¡ LPG is heavier than air. ¡ The vapour can seep into drains or cellars giving rise to explosions some distance from the source.
¡ LPG can displace air in confined spaces and excavations causing asphyxiation. Storage guidelines
DO:
Store cylinders in open air in secure, locked, well ventilated cages. Site fire extinguishers nearby. Separate flammable gases and oxygen. Site cages away from buildings or excavations. Store empty and full cylinders separately. Store and secure cylinders in upright position in bottle carriers. Check hoses, couplings and regulator for wear or damage. Ensure flashback arrestors are used.
