Control of Waste
The effective segregation and management of waste streams is essential to facilitate recycling of material wherever possible and reduce impact to the environment. Clear signage and colour coding will facilitate greater take up of segregation initiatives and the use of clear bin bags (rather than black) assists in the identification of waste. If the company is responsible for completing documentation for waste disposal, ensure that the correct details are identified and entered on the appropriate waste transfer or consignment note. Ensure that all waste is placed in the designated skip according to its classification and that waste receptacles are secure and clearly labelled. If you are unsure about the correct classification of any waste, always ask your supervisor before segregating or disposing of it.
