Personal Protective Equipment (PPE

PPE is provided for your safety.

You must:

¡ Check for fit, suitability and defects before use. ¡ Look after it and store it as directed. ¡ Replace it when damaged. ¡ Wear it as directed by your

supervisor and or risk assessment. Types of protection include:

¡ Head protection. ¡ Hard hats, bump caps. ¡ Foot and leg protection. ¡ Boots (not including rigger type boots). ¡ Hand protection. ¡ Gloves, gauntlets, mitts. ¡ Eye protection. ¡ Goggles, face shields, spectacles. ¡ Hearing protection. ¡ Ear defenders, plugs, muffs. ¡ Respiratory protection. ¡ Breathing apparatus, face masks. ¡ Fall arrest equipment. ¡ Safety harness. ¡ Body protection. ¡ Overalls, chain mail aprons, hi-visibility vests/jackets for

visual protection. This is the law, not personal choice! If you are unsure what ppe you should be using check with your supervisor
