In clear terms the conduct standards that are required.

o

That failure to improve and achieve the required standards of conduct will lead to further formal action.

o

That their conduct will be reviewed within a specified time, or earlier if other serious matters arise.

o

Discuss with the team member any measures that are necessary to improve the conduct, such as, further training

Conclude the meeting ensuring that: o

The team member clearly understands the issues that have been discussed and what is required of them.

o

A plan of action has been mutually agreed (if possible) that meets your needs and the team member.

o

You have offered your assistance but have not allowed the team member to shift responsibility back to you.

o

You have invited the team member to notify you if they encounter any obstacles or barriers to meeting the required standards.

Monitor performance on a regular basis and conduct another formal interview at the end of the specified review period, or earlier if other serious matters arise.

If there is no satisfactory improvement and circumstance warrant it, repeat the process outlined above.
