Managers Guide to Learning and Development:

Training Plans

In identifying training needs, Managers may choose to:

● identify the classes of products and services in which team members require training,

● identify the main procedures where team members need training,

● identify any specialist areas where there are limited numbers of trained team members, and where there would be a significant impact on Branded Group if any of the trained team members left,

● identify obvious training times or required timeframes (for example – quieter times of the year or just before a major project commences), and

● develop an annual Training Plan, starting with training that links to obvious timeframes, and then add training on a priority basis.

Plan & Deliver the Training Sessions

Managers are to:

● review the Training Plan monthly, considering the training scheduled for the coming month(s),

● determine what the training needs to cover,

● determine who can best provide the training and where it should be delivered,

● develop the training content (in-house) or confirm the training outcomes required if the training is to be outsourced,

● advise team members of the proposed training. Make any adjustments to team members’ rosters to ensure standards are maintained during any absences while team members attend training,

● arrange any training materials and/or equipment (in-house),

● deliver (or attend) the training, and

● record details of the training on the individual training records for team members.
